Hi, I noticed that at 4:52, you typed the home page URL into the website domain field while explaining conversion tracking for the success page. I'm a bit confused about which URL I should use. Should it be the "Thank You" page or the home page? If I want to set up conversion tracking specifically for the "Thank You" or "Order Received" page, should I only use the "Order Received" page URL for both the "Add Conversion Action" page and the triggering settings? Thanks so much for your help!

Hello austin, i have a quick question here what is the use of importing conversion action from google analytics if any and creating conversion action directly in google ads. Is any of the one method enough?

Using native Google Ads tag is better for many reasons. GA4 imports usually will attribute less. I recommend at least having the GA4 import linked with Google Ads but just set it to Secondary.

I'm stuck at minute 11:33. :( My Tag setup only shows 'Install the tag yourself' or 'Email the tag' - I don't have 'Use Google Tag Manager'. I tried both options but can't seem to identify what the Converision ID or Conversion Label would be from either of those options. Any ideas on how I can get the 'Use Google Tag Manager' to show? Thanks!

Got it. It was associated with GA4. I started over and didn't associate with GA4 and I have the Tage Manager option now. Thanks for the great video!

Good until the trigger part. Since I couldn't see what you did, understandable that you blurred, but my squarespace page doesnt change url after the form submits. Is there any other way I can trigger?

"my squarespace page doesnt change url after the form submits" - You'll 100% want to redirect people to a Thank You page. A developer should be able to set this up for you if you can't. Then you trigger on /thank-you page or /success page (whatever you decide to create the url for the Thank You page as)

For trigger your selecting “Page Path”, but saying Page URL, is there any difference and which one is correct?

what if i have 3 landing pages and they are going to same thankyou page. what needs to be done in that case, I am using all three pages for 3 ad groups. how will i setup conversion tracking for them?

You need to use UTM tracking in your URLs to help identify the source, campaign, and ad groups.

What if the user is redirected from a landing page on a domain different from the main domain where the thank you page is hosted?

If this is a third party tool (e.g. booking system) then that tool would need to have an integration with Google Ads. If you have control of the other domain or landing page then you just need to set up your redirect to capture UTM of the gclid to pass that to the other page.

I chose Form Submission but it says 'Form not detected' A form wasn't detected on the URL. Go back to make sure the address is correct before you add this conversion action. I do have a payment form on my pages.

Thanks again for this well explained video! My team and I encountered an issue related to conversion value adjustment by uploading: We use the Conversions tab to upload spreadsheets daily to adjust conversion values. Recently, we changed the name of a conversion goal (from sales_lead_qualified to qualify_lead). Since then, past conversions are no longer recognized, and we get an error: "This conversion does not exist." Do you know how to adjust values for past conversions after renaming a conversion goal? Have you encountered this before? Thanks so much for your help! Best, Romain

Hmm tough one and I honestly would send this to my team of wizards here at Grow My Ads to help me with this. Can you revert the conversion action name back to "sales_lead_qualified" temporarily, make your historical value adjustments, then create a new conversion action with the original name "sales_lead_qualified" moving forward?

@@growmyads Already tried to revert the name conversion change back to "sales_lead_qualified" and the uploader still don't recognize my conversion. I was thinking of re-uploading the qualify_lead action with all of the parameters (gclid, timestamp) and the correct name, and then restate this one. Not sure how to access my "broken" previous conversion action since the name change since they are not recognized anymore...

Thank Austin i ask different question if you reply it will help me. I run affiliate product and it show lower cpc $1.5 and higher cpc around $4.5 . What should i do in campaign conversion or manual cpc. If i do conversion how much cpa should i choose. Product price are for 2 bottle $79 , for 6 bottle $49 and total around $294 and 3 bottle $69 and total are $207 . Can you tell me what should i do . If it is a pop up I'd recommend having it send to a thank you page after they fill out the fields. Otherwise, you have to use event tracking with pop ups.

I tried to do it with an older account which made perfect sense, but I needed to implement more code at the end which I accidentaly skipped past. Then I deleted my account and created a new one to start fresh, but it seems like they changed how to do this, making this video confusing. Now Im not able to install the lead-form with GTM, only via code.

Yoooo budd, Just to be sure: We send people to our main website through our google ads. Then we have to send the visitor to another website (other URL and UTM's disappear) to actually book an appointement. When he fill in the form we finally redirect to our main website which was the one from the ads. Does G-ads will count this as a conversion? Because we lose the UTM's when we redirect to the booking website. Thanks budddd

If it is a third party tool that is being used (booking system) you'll have to check if they have Google Ads integration. Otherwise, if you have control of the other domain it goes to then you have to pass the gclid across domains by capturing it as UTM or using hidden form fields to store it. This would require some extra dev set up that I honestly wouldn't know myself since I would have my dev on my team usually do this.

@@growmyads Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately we have no room on the other website and I don't think they support Google Ads Integration. So tracking won't work if we lose the utm's through websites right? Even if we have a 7 days attribution windows ? Thanks

Nope so you have to use event button click tracking which isn't ideal. You would just track any visitors who click Submit button or whatever button takes you to the third party domain.

Great video! Thanks for sharing. I plan to check out one the Primary vs Secondary one you mentioned later on. Newbie alert. You may have addressed this very thing in the back half of this video. I'm too much of a newb to know the lingo and what things actually mean. I'm working on a Google ad to send people to my home page. From there, they click a button that goes to a new page with the form. Once they submit the form, I have it set up to go to a new Success URL. Like you say, there is no way to get there without submitting the form. But here's my worry: people would arrive at the same home page by paid Google ads and through organic means. Carry that through the process, that means both of those people land on the same Success URL. Will the organic prospects trigger a conversion inside Google even though they did not click on my Google ad? I don't want those organics to skew my paid advertising numbers. Thanks again!

Nope. Google Ads will only count visitors who clicked an ad and got to the success page as a conversion.
