Important addition for those who prefers to build shader manually. All Image Textures nodes except one for color input must be set in Non Color Data Mode, in order to avoid gamma correction of the textured. Node Wrangler does it automatically, but useful to know. Could you explain the reason behind the things you are doing please. That is the real value in a tutorial. I have no idea why you use Open GL
@jbro8084 жыл бұрын
I use OpenGL because that is the rendering API Blender uses, you could use Direct X but you'd have to flip the channels in Blender and that would defeat the purpose of having a preset. There's a great guide here in KZbin on a channel called Get Learnt, check it out if you want a better understanding of PBR textures, hope this helps. 🤟

Very useful, but how enable opacity texture from sp to blender?
@jbro8086 жыл бұрын
Hey Sofiya, if you want to have SP export an opacity map just add it (opacity map/channel) in the texture set settings tab. Any channels /textures you add in your texture set settings will be exported from SP as long as you tell it to export them. In Cycles just put the opacity map in the right node setup and you'll be good to go. Here's a good video covering the topic, it's a bit old now but still helpful kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5XVd4B7nLOafJY hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Does the Noder Wrangler not work for UDIMS? it will only apply one set and the rest of the object will display as pink
@jbro8084 жыл бұрын
It should work, if your seeing pink you might have to change the node or nodes and set them from "single image" to "tiled". For example in the color node look at the drop down menus, should see something like "Linear, Flat, Repeat" the last one might be set to "Single Image" if you switch it to "Tiled" it should show up on the rest of the model.

I didn't set an AO export in this setup, I did add it after the fact. But the process is the same, just add a Gray channel and drop the AO input map onto it, just make sure you use the same naming convention like "$mesh_$textureSet_" is the default naming SP uses, just copy paste it and ad AO to it should be good to go!

In the texture set settings make sure you have a height map, if not you can hit the + button and add one. When exporting your textures be sure that the height map is included, painter shows you what maps/textures will be in the export. Hopefully this helps.

How do you scale textures on substance painter? Whenever I fill materials like skin, fabric and leather texture, it looks zoomed in. Increasing UV scale makes it better. Is that a proper way to scale textures?
@jbro8084 жыл бұрын
As far as I know that is the only way to scale textures in painter. You might be able to shift your uv's around in Blender or wherever you did the uv's and dedicate more UV shave to the part/parts of your model that require more detail/texel density.

I haven't used C4D in a while now, but I bet someone has made a plug-in that is similar to Blenders node Wrangler. I'd look on some C4D fourms and ask there. Hope you find one 👍

@@jbro808 Yes I thought about it also but Cycles4D is super unpopular for C4D in general, people who use Cycles4D usually don't work with complicated scenes in my opinion. Not sure what to do. Edit: I restarted my computer and now instead I have two different textures spread across one part of the model (instead of the textures going on both parts of the model). I don't know a workaround for this, willing to try anything
@jbro8084 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the post. It's hard to say for sure what's going on but It sounds like your model has 2 objects in it, each object will have it's own UV set and each set will been seen as a "Texture Set" in SP. You can texture each "Texture Set" in SP and when you export them you'll have to apply each "Texture Set" to that part of the model or you can combine your objects into one and repac the UVs and you will have just 1 "Texture Set" to paint/texture in SP and 1 to export. Take a look at the UV's of your model, if you don't see the UV's for the entire model then you probably have multiple UV's. Hopefully this makes sense for you.

@@jbro808 Thank you for the reply! In case anyone out there is experiencing the same problem I did, there seems to be a solution! I tried what you said with an .obj file but it did not work (it is likely I am misunderstanding/incorrectly applying what you are saying). Regardless, your feedback led me to the solution!! I exported the mesh from blender as an .fbx filetype instead of .obj, then in blender I selected all of the parts of the model associated with the corresponding files for the relevant textures, put on the textures for that part using what you showed in the video, then selected the other part of the model , selected all of the corresponding files for those textures and put those on that part. I am quite new to 3D modelling so I apologize for any incorrect terminology. Anyway, this video is extremely helpful and now I can export from Substance Painter to Blender quickly! Thanks again Edit: When I loaded the .fbx file in Blender it was initially microscopically small and had to be scaled up, perhaps that is a common issue
