I have only recorded on clip with my DJI wireless mic and 32-bit float point. I was amazed at how clean the audio comes out. I'm wondering though since the road itself has 32-bit float point how much different the audio would actually be?

No difference in audio 32bit just prevents clipping

You mean the camera line input? I think you can but for mics best to unplug the 1 and 2 mics at the top as per the video.

I don’t think this is right. The 3.5 output from the Rode receiver is sending a variable line signal into the portacapture X8. Yes, if that signal clips, and youhave the Portacapture Set to 32 bit float, you can bring it down in post. However, the gain setting on the Rode wireless mics is what determines whether or not the microphone input clips. If you have that setting too high, you will still get a clipped signal going into the Porta capture (even if the Portacapture gain setting is fine). The new Rode wireless Pro has its own 32 bit float. That’s where the 32 bit float needs to be to allow accidental wireless microphone clipping to be corrected. That’s my understanding, anyway.

Thanks for sharing. I am wondering about the quality of the supplied mics on channels 1 and 2. They are very light and flimsy and when travelling they need to be detached. How do they compare quality wise with a lavalier mic? Did you notice a difference?

What cable do you use if you have 2 rode mics and 1 receiver, and want to use 2 mono channels?

Same cable. You have to set the receiver for stereo and in post use each channel as mono

You need to use the Aux input, or use a female to dual male 1/8 splitter into input 1 and 2. You have to record in stereo to get the two separate tracks. Later sum to mono in post.
