you can start from the very bottom (minus 12), then every d-pad UP press is 1interval, and when you get dead center that's zero db, followed by (plus 1), I honestly think the xbox headset is better and cheaper if you're having too much trouble with the astro

I believe it's been free when you download dolby access via xbox both for pc and consoles, and most decent headsets offer it for free, and even when you return the headset they never take it away. I never paid a cent for long as I have had it. I would not worry about a free trial, I think it just said as far as I can remember, but they never charged or take it away. Worst come to worst I believe it used to only cost $15 in the past even on xbox, but I don't think they make you pay for it anymore. It's not a bad investment if you have to pay, but that is just my opinion because I love good sound for everything.

Sorry to hear that. Just uninstall whatever previous version you have on your computer, then download the newest version and install it. it's better to download it from the ASTRO website, I put a link in the description for easy access. Try that and see what happens.

Make sure to update the software with the newest firmware. Are you using dolby atmost. Even without Dolby atmos you can still get surround with the windows sonic option from settings option. With Dolby atmos you need to turn off the surround from the headset, and you should only see the xbox indicated on the on the base station for ATMOS

That is really one headset that definitely requires a PC; however, you can try a friend's house, and they can let you download the firmware and delete it afterwards. If you don't have access to a pc return this headset for something that doesn't require constant firmware update, otherwise you're stuck with a buggy headset that will have a lot of issues.

Inside the astro command center app, there's a volume for the mic, it's sometimes low as default, you might need to check that and increase the volume.

Sorry to hear that, did you make sure that the game volume is not off on the headset itself? You can also check inside the command center app to make sure the game volume is also not mute. If nothing works, I would say try a different headset, the xbox wireless headset is better and cheaper if you're interested in something different.

Is This a new headset? is there any other device between your xbox and your TV? like a capture card, obs, etc...? if that's not the case, I would say unplug everything and plug them back in, uninstall and reinstall the firmware, use and make sure the game sound on the right earcup is not turned off too. If nothing works, open a ticket with astro, or return the headset if possible.

first i would make sure to update to the latest software from the astro website. also make sure you switch from pc to xbox on the base station, it's easy to forget that sometimes. If that doesn't work, my best advice is to return it if you can and buy the xbox wireless headset. That's what i've been using and it works great and i like it better than the astro and it's cheaper. I use the astro as a back up nowadays, and I have touched the astro headset for about a year now.

lol..I understand your frustration. Sometimes, when that happens you can try to restart the xbox, unplug everything and plug them back on. However, If you're able to return it, i would say do so. I have been using the xbox wireless headset and have not had any issues. I still have the astro, but I like the xbox one better and it was cheaper too.

@@WEDZGAMING so the issue was I went to the command center and it said there was no firmware update. I downloaded the "app" on my pc and voila! Firmware update. So utterly dumb to have that type of issue. Now I can hear game and chat, but every time I turn on my xbox I have to unplug the base and plug it back in for it to recognize I have a headset. Such an inconvenience. Never had that issue with any other headphone company (Turtle Beach, Corsair, etc.).

Sorry to hear that my friend, but the xbox and ps4 versions are not interchangeable, that might be your issue. Basically the ps4 will work with ps4, xbox with xbox. I'm sure there might be a jerry rigging kind of way to make it work, but it would be a lot of trouble to go through in my opinion.

get rid of the optical cable cuz the series x doesn't use that anymore, and you're getting your sound from the series x not the tv. Unless you want to keep switching between using your tv sound and your xbox sound for the headset, which sounds like a lot of headache in my opinion

If you have an optical port in the back of your TV to the base then use that, and yes tick using HDMI. Turn off the dolby option if using a mix like atmos etc

Try to increase the game sound volume inside the astro command center app to see if that's the problem. Also on the EAR CUP, the right side has game sound and party chat sound, try to increase the sound there and see if that works. if nothing works, you might have to return it for a new one.

Hello. I wonder if you could advise me on how to set up a system eq or dolby atm for Forza? I am using the Xbox wireless headset. I cannot set a similar level of quality between the sounds of the cars and the sounds of collisions. On the one hand, when I set the car to sound good, the collisions are too low, even unnatural. In the second variant, I achieve relatively real collision sounds, but such a Porshe Spyder “in the air” sounds like I'm driving through a tunnel. to be honest with you, the best way is to listen to it without the eq settings, and see what the original sound feels like. then try the settings that I show on this video. Astro as different modes on the inside the command app center, switch to those modes to see, which one sounds better to you, and sync it with the headset. did you try to switch between the dolby surround sound and dolby atmos. the thing is when you use dolby atmos settings you need to turn off dolby surround from the headset, it's the headset symbol that shows on the base station, you can toggle it on and off to see which one sounds better. If the astro headset is not doing it for you, i would say try the microsoft wireless headset, it sounds really good and it's cheaper, and does the same thing as the astro. I got both and i prefer to use the microsoft wireless headset. If nothing works you might have to keep trying different settings from the dolby atmos settings.

I'd say try to unplug the usb cable from the back of the xbox, then plug it back in and restart. if this continues, make sure on the ear cup the game volume is up. there's chat volume and game volume in the right ear cup. also check to make sure inside the astro command center app, the game sound volume is up. if nothing works maybe it's defective, you probably need to return it for a new one.

But if you're really having a hard time, the best thing you can do is to return the astro and buy the xbox wireless headset, it's cheaper and it sounds really good with dolby atmos or even with the software that comes with the headset. you might have to prioritize the headset, though there are some usb extensions that people use, but they always report problems with connection. I would say, if you don't want to deal with that issue, try the XBOX wireless headset they are as good if not better in my opinion, and they are cheaper.

Not everyone has dolby atmos! so you can use one or the other. There's is toggle on the headset that let you use one or the other in my experience. if you're using dolby atmos, you see XBOX on the indicator, if you're using the astro preset you see the dolby logo like a picture of a headphone.

Did you try to see if the game sound on the right earcup is on? unless the music is turned off from the game you're playing you should be able to hear the sound. Also check the EQ set up, and see how high or low is the game sound compare the voice sound

I'd say try to make sure that on the xbox settings, it says you use dolby atmos . also i you don't want to hear the tv sound you would have to turn the volume down to zero. if it's a gaming monitor that you use, you should be able to disable the sound within the monitor itself.

Sorry to hear that. You probably need to reset the headset by holding the Dolby button and the right earcup button for about 5 seconds providing you updated the firmware from either the Astro website or the microsoft store.

yea, it's very possible, but you have to use your party chat through discord and set up all the other channels to via your pc, just like the streamers do. now if you need more info check out some of the youtube videos with streamers that use the GOXLR, you might find some good info from those. the only thing though you might need an adapter, but check out GOXLR vids and see

I was using Dolby atmos with my Astro a40 on my Xbox one x with no issues. Today I purchased the Xbox series s. I enabled Dolby but the sound is off. On the mix amp if I switch from Dolby to the star the sound is the same.. on the mix amp I had the volume dial set to around 12 o clock.. it was super loud , could hear footsteps in warzone well etc.. today I tried it I turned the sound all the way to the max and the volume was super low. It was as if Dolby was not even working.. any ideas?

i would say check to see if you EQ reset on accident. also always save a copy of your settings in case you want to upload it later on. The only i can suggest if the problem continues, just try to reset the headset that normally works for most issues

So I figured out a fix, I’m sure others will have the same problem with the Astro A40 with the mix amp pro. Since there’s no optical port on the Xbox series s and x you will h w to buy a HDMI audio extractor. In the Xbox settings put your headset audio on stereo uncompressed , speaker put that on hdmi bitstream out and bitstream format put Dolby digital and bam sound is back to normal :).. I purchased the extractor from Bestbuy it’s the insignia brand

try to go inside astro command app and see if the volume is turned off, then increase the volume in there. Also you might have to uninstall and reisntall the firmware if nothing works.

@@TylerJJ lol. To be honest, I know the feeling I had returned 2 of them when they first came out until I found one that worked and luckily I have not had any issues since. I even tested a steelseries at the timr because they were the next best thing. I still think steelseries is a great option, and if astro don't get their acts together, steelseries will be my next headset.

Thx for the kind words my friend; but to be honest i'm not sure it's xbox because the xbox wireless headset doesn't require you to plug anything, and it's as good as this astro headset if not better; especially with dolby atmos, and it's cheaper. I still have the astro as a back up nowadays, but I'm enjoying the xbox wireless headset.

Sometimes if you unplug the usb from the back of the xbox then plug it back in, it tends to fix some sound issues. Also make sure you have the latest software update from the astro website

It's not working for me I updated the firmware, switched to Xbox on the button, downloaded Dolby, changed to headset and Dolby sound on the settings and I still don't get any sound at all

did you try to troubleshoot the sound inside the xbox settings through the volume and audio output? Make sure it's on dolby atmos for headphones or or try switching the format and see if you get anything. Also sometimes, you need to unplug the usb cable from the back of the xbox, then plug it back in

That's not cool, normally updating the firmware and restart your system would fix that issue. Also sometimes if you have a lot of wireless stuff nearby. I would say try to either reinstall the software or reset the headset to see if that fixes the problem. if you have a different wireless headset, check to see if there's static from it as well that way you know for sure ASTRO headset is the issue. if all else fails, just return it for a new one..

Astros sound like shit now the optical cable makes a hell of a difference and you dont get that anoying glitchy noise it makes on usb problem is now that ether I buy a gen 5 model when it comes out or spend the extra money on trying to make these over priced gaming headphones sound great again by buying a hdmi optical spliter box for it because right now dolby atmos suport does not support All games so having pure sterio mode is great but games that suport dolby atmos then use it only use dolby atmos if a game suports it

what? No, you don't have to pay anything. I'm not sure what you're referring to, but if you're talking about dolby atmos, you don't have to use dolby atmos to use the headset, plus they normally come with a 2 year activation code to use dolby atmos.

You probably have to do a hard reset on the headset and also make sure you're running the latest firmware
