Exactly, its been almost 1-2years i always take in JPEG giving me less time to edit in Lightroom. Am using Sony A7, sometimes its not all about following the right procedures but being creative and practical helps alot..

Back when I was on the A7C, my favorite kinda "secret" setting was Recall Custom Hold. You can assign a custom button to toggle settings while it's held down, and the camera returns to your current config when it's released. So i put my "oh sh*t!" settings into that setting. No matter what im doing, i hold that button down and go Auto ISO maxed, spot center af-s, min SS 1/500, etc. Then when a random moment pops up, I'll get it no matter what. It even snaps the camera out of full manual and manual focus. Anyway, good intro video. Covers things people should know but tend to figure out much later 🤘

@@Watzac I moved over to the Leica M240. Only one I could afford, since it's from 2012. For me shooting day time and street/travel only, it's perfect. I understand the switch looks absurd on paper 😅

Do you have a shortcut for the crop set? Sounds interesting and a how to video would be cool.

I don't have a shortcut, but I should make one...!

I used to have an old Canon QL17 exactly like that camera at 1:00 🙏

I've been shooting for 5 years and almost exclusively on aperture mode, I always set my aperture and ISO and let the camera select the shutter speed

hi, a bit late on your channel, do u have any advices for some old camera and lenses( canon 600d and i use auto revuenon 50mm 1,4 and auto revuenon 35-100mm f4-5.6 + 2 kit lenses that i dont really like)? manual focus only. Thanks in advance and every advice from this community will be appreciated.

i think people need to rethink a little as well. alot of the times age old stigmas ... stick. but the world moves on and technology improves. whats the point of buying a 2000$ camera body... if you dont use any of its state of the art features and go full M mode? dont get me wrong, i love M but when you see a final end result of a photo noone will sit there be like: ''hmm i wonder if he shot it in M or not'' To me M really only makes sense in a more static enviroment. if you do a staged shooting for example in a studio or on location where you have time and the subject is consistent and you have some control over lighting and stuff, then you can really go ham and compose your shot in M. But for ''spontaneous'' photography, like street photography where its all about the moment, and you see something interesting with your eyes and you need to take the shot NOW, it simply makes no sense to me to use M. you see a person walking by you want to capture as he is soon to step into this cool lightray? well i dont have time to first go into M mode and fiddle some dials and get exposure right

As long as the shot comes out the way you intended it to come out, who cares what mode or what gear was used! Love the way you put this!

The idea that pros only shoot in manual is utter nonsense. A pro knows how to use their tools effectively to get the result they want. A pro CAN shoot in manual. But they WILL shoot in whatever mode is going to get them what they need in a given situation. A pro knows how and when to use every setting on their camera, and more importantly, when not to.

Couldn’t have said it better myself! I think it’s a common misconception as it’s key to understand how to use all 3 key settings but the priority modes are where it’s at long term 💪

Might as well shot in full auto as to shot in these others modes 😂 nonsense

Not really as you still get to control the depth of field, but hey, each to their own

Shortcuts have always empowered photographers. Is Sunny16 and hyperfocal at F8 nonsense too? It's more auto than what he's doing and the most famous street photos of all time were shot with this method.

You probably think only RAW files count as “real photographs” and “real photographers” never use their LCD screens
