Congrats on the new jointer. This is the model that I would like to upgrade to at some point. I have an 8” Grizzly with dovetail ways and straight blades cutter head but will swap it for the parallelogram setup with the spiral cutter eventually.

The Boeshield was developed by Boeing for long term storage of steel and iron jigs and bucks used in airplane manufacture. It is meant to be sprayed on and left on. I suppose it couldn't hurt to spray it on and wipe it off, but its kind of expensive. Certainly the paste wax, used regularly will combat rust and ease sliding the wood over the deck.

Dude, how old are you? I was 19 when I got my first jointer (Christmas 2008) and you look/sound about that age here. The only difference is mine is the now defunct G0452 model (1 hp, 3 knife head) and yours is a 3 hp beast with a helical head. Don't get me wrong, my jointer is great and I've had to do minimal upkeep and repairs on it beyond cleaning and changing out the knives, but you're starting off on a whole different level here. I bet if you take care of this machine it'll still be working when you're in your 80s! In fact, this is one of the candidates for when I upgrade to an 8" jointer in the next few years.

Great vid Eric. I just bought the same jointer. I have an issue with the left side of the fence (facing jointer). The left side about the first 2 inches from the HH is rubbing on the table. Did yours come like that? If so, please let me know what you did about it. Tyvm...M

How much did this one cost? New power tools can be very expensive these days so I would get started by buying used ones from pawn shops which are of better value for money but there's a catch, they're usually out of warranty.

I’m trying to come up with some plans to redesign part of my dust collector so I can put a filter on it instead of blowing the super fine dust outside after it goes through the cyclone portion.

@@EricLindberg that’s funny I’m in the process of upgrading my dust collection too. It’s baby steps for me but heading in that direction. Just bought a Jet 2hp collector and will upgrade to microfine collection as the budget permits.
