A tip I used for my old pet rat "Elvis" who loved tipping his food over, use a small metal plate with adhesive on the bottom of the bowl and a magnet under the box/tub. It may slide some, but he never tipped it over again.

This was very helpful! Thank you for making this video, I'm getting prepared to go on a leopard gecko rescue mission! :) (long story short is at a Petsmart they're keeping a tiny baby leopard gecko with a bigger gecko that could eat it, so I'm saving up to buy one and rescue both!)

Tons of people are b*tching about this set up but, if I’ve understood the beginning of the video, this is only temporary. He literally said he didn’t want to bring their glass aquariums because they’re obvious and he isn’t supposed to have his animals at that residence. He also said at the start that he likes giving them a nice set up which is no doubt really expensive. The way I see it is these are temporary homes for his geckos whilst he’s at this residence. What would be the alternative? Getting rid of them? Leaving them with family or friends where you won’t see them enough and can’t guarantee their getting the same level of care as he’d like? I think that him doing this is kind of brilliant. Yes, it’s not the best looking or a fancy expensive set up but if the animals are happy and healthy then that’s all that matters. I just find it ridiculous that most of the comments I’ve read are negative. Sure, give constructive criticism but don’t go off and insinuate he’s doing a bad job or neglecting his animals. If all people have to say is something negative they should keep their mouths shut. I’m going to stop now because I’m getting into rant territory now, hell I might already be there, which is never a good thing.

Lol you wouldn't have so many people bitching if you made it match which is sad. As long as your geckos are happy and healthy who fucking cares what you use?? You have what they need. Room, food, water, hides, moisture, heat . . .

Commenting 2 1/2 years after the video, but oh well.. Your geckos look great, and that would not happen if their care was bad. I don't know why so many people think a glass tank with screen top is a better cage than a plastic tub for an animal like a leopard gecko. Perhaps it is the marketing of the big pet store chains, those "kits" that are largely inappropriate in many ways. Glass tanks are not any better than tubs. In fact, glass tanks are inherently worse, but with effort, moist hides, other hides it can work. Glass tanks allow for too much evaporation, so a moist hide is so necessary in a tank. A tub has reduced ventilation and reduced evaporation - more like the burrows that LGs spend their days in. Glass tanks allow too much visibility for an animal that stays hidden during daylight - again, corrected by having lots of hides. Tubs are not as clear, geckos feel secure. If the animal looks good and is healthy, then the care is good.

6strings THANK YOU finally someone said it. They don’t need all the decorations and stuff. One of my geckos has a 20 gallon glass tank with all the decor and stuff and my other gecko is in a enclosure like the one in this video. They both are perfectly healthy and are doing great!

I know this video is like two years old so I'm not sure if you'll reply, but is it safe to use a Zoomed heat mat under a plastic tub like this? As long as I use a thermostat with it of course.
@imisabella5126

Morphine_Slurpee yep. Mines currently in a nice plastic tub and I keep mine under with no problems. I kinda put stuff that’ll elevate the tub (such as little knickknacks clothing pin.. a small box.. a candy container.. etc) on the side with the heat mat so it doesn’t get toooo hot just in case. Her hot side gets to about 85 :)

Leave your geckos 2 days in there tub and after that put something that smells like you in the tank, then try hand feeding. If it works, start getting them used to your hand near them, put your hand on the side of their back and try scooping them up in between the space in the front legs.

Ryan Lopez it's "jakesgotherps" not herpes, it's because a herpetologist studies reptiles and I'm pretty sure he's studying to be a herpetologist.

Wow this makes me so sad to see that you don't feel the need to get the items you NEED to keep your Leo's alive😭😭😭 like they have a chance of DIEING if they don't have a heat mat and moist hide for shedding AND THATS TO MANY WORMS AT A TIME I suggest only feeding them 6-8 worms each every 3-4 days dusted with calcium powder and vitamines

They have a heat mat, and they have a moist place for shedding. He showed us this. Plus, he's stated that one is 13, that means the lizard has lived a full healthy life.

I know this is a old comment, and I don't wanna start drama, but he says that he isn't supposed to have reptiles so he couldn't bring in a tank. Besides, if you look into it, containers work just fine.
