This was outstanding, Dwayne, and I truly appreciate you putting this tutorial together! I have just started to get all my streaming stuff for my Zoom meetings, OBS, and my new Stream Deck together (I have the 15 buttons one). It has been a daunting task but your tutorial here and put me in the right direction! Again, thank you for taking the time to put this tutorial together! Well done!

thanks really appreciate you sharing these 2 different ways of using OBS using zoom or what ever. I am wondering if I can use launchpad mini instead of a stream deck
@theHitmanDDub
@theHitmanDDub 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gregory, yes it’s possible to substitute a launchpad or any other midi device in place of the Stream Deck. But here’s the catch though, I was only able to do it using my Windows/PC laptop and not my Mac (unless you have the software that’ll install Windows on your Mac). You’ll need the MidiKey2Key software (for Windows) that’ll turn your midi pad information into a computer keystroke for use with OBS’s Hotkey feature. I finally figured it out yesterday. I’ll post a video demonstration of this in a couple of days.

@@theHitmanDDub Dwayne I found something yesterday after watching the steps you showed on this vid. I was able to setup 26 pads on my launchpad mini so far and they work. Just woke here in Western Australia I will try find the link to the tute I followed. and add it here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2OyYopoh66qrtk its only 1/4 of the touch pads on the mini used so far I'm thinking this is very promising. One thing though the app mini pipe will lose the script soon as it is closed as it turns out. So there is a need to save the script and copy paste it each time.

What's Coming Out of Your Mouth Podcast Hi. If you’re asking if you can still record in Zoom with Zoom’s Mic off? The answer is Yes-but make sure you’re sharing your OBS Broadcast with the audio on and you’re sharing the computer sound by clicking the box on the Zoom Share Screen or you won’t have any sound on the Zoom Recording. I hope this helps you out. If not, give me more details and I be more than happy to help.

Hi Dwayne. Thank you for this clearly articulated tutorial. I am not clear if your tutorial applies to a Mac - as that is what I have. I am new to this stuff, and some research has informed me that to use OBS in conjunction with Zoom on a Mac that a virtual camera must be downloaded. Is this true? Next week for work OI have been asked to assist a colleague with the presentation of a paper. We are at different locations. My supervisor has asked that the zoom meeting go through OBS (to raise the audio and visual quality from Zoom of materials - videos, photos, audio files, etc.), and then live-streamed to KZbin. What would be the best way of doing this?

You can sync audio and video through the mixer "Sync Offset (ms)" settings. Great tutorial D. I am having issues with video latency while sharing a screen in GoToMeeting and I was wondering if OBS would allow some sort of lower latency video streaming into GTM rather than sharing the screen and if that would help my issue. Do you have latency issues playing videos that are being streamed into a zoom meeting? Any response is appreciated.

Hi Krisdonya, If you are using a Windows/PC, then you won't see the Zoom Audio Device Option (ZoomAudioDevice seems to be only a Mac option). Check out these steps I did for the Windows/PC users in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZjYZXeci82tqJI If you are trying to do this on a Mac for the first time, then you might not see this option at first. The ZoomAudioDevice option appeared after I shared my OBS Display in Zoom with the "Share My Computer Sound" option checked. I just uploaded a video that shows you how to get the "ZoomAudioDevice" Option to show up on your computer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZSmiIqibdSsrMU I've also written out the direction as well in the description section of that video.

@theHitmanDDub 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Juan, I would suggest first making sure everything is updated to the newest version, then make sure you’re not streaming over Wifi but plug directly into your internet box if possible, try and optimize your computer HD so you’re running at a good speed. I frequently run a software cleaning program to manage my computer speed (emptying caches, non-mandatory RAM files, and defragmentation,. Lastly, try just live-streaming from OBS then Zoom Independently from one another to see if they are functioning correctly. Remember these two programs weren’t initially made to be used together. I myself have experienced glitches at times for no apparent reason. I just had to tweak a few settings or shut down and reboot. I hope this helps. Let me know how things worked out for you.

Hey Dwayne I had a quick question. How do you get the audio that’s being played through obs, to be heard through zoom. I have a mixer I use when streaming with obs but I also have video clips in obs that have audio attached to them. What steps do I do, to send the audio from obs to zoom?
@theHitmanDDub
@theHitmanDDub 4 жыл бұрын
Jeremy Johnson Hi Jeremy, The easy answer is to run your audio output into a sound interface that’ll take the sound from your mixer and send it to your computer via an USB cord. Now for the more complicated answer. First off, are you using a Mac or PC/Windows? For OBS Windows, select your computer’s audio source that’ll be playing your sound. Also, for the media that is played within your source section of your scenes, make sure you have them set to “monitor and output.” Now in ZOOM, I mute my ZOOM mic since I’m using the mic source in OBS. Press the “Share Green” button and select the OBS Projected Display option. Also, click the “Share Computer Sound” and “Optimize Video” options in the lower left hand corner. Then hit the blue “Share” button. Hopefully, you’ll hear the OBS audio in ZOOM. If not you’re going to have to tweak your audio settings either in ZOOM first, or back in OBS, or possibly in your computer’s main settings (as last resort). If you’re using a Mac, you’ll follow the same steps but set your OBS Audio (Setting-Audio Tab-Advance Section) to “ZoomAudioDevice” for Device Monitoring. I hope this helps. I think I’m going to go live a few times this week to try and respond to people’s questions in the Chat so we all can work out tech problems together with OBS and ZOOM.

Thanks for the helpful video. At 14:30 you set your monitoring output to zoom audio device. I can’t see this as a setting on my Mac. How did you get this?
@theHitmanDDub
@theHitmanDDub 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, if you're doing these steps for the first time on a Mac, you might not see this option (at least I didn't at first). The ZoomAudioDevice option appeared after I shared my OBS Display in Zoom. After which, this option will automatically be available until you fully uninstall ZOOM from your Mac Computer. Try following all the steps (except for step 2). For step 2, select your computer’s main audio card and then follow all the remaining steps. There’s a good chance you’re not going to hear any sound from the OBS Stream when you try to share OBS in ZOOM for the first time; but share it anyway because it wasn’t until I try sharing in ZOOM that the ZoomAudioDevice option appeared in OBS. So, after you stop sharing in ZOOM, return to the settings-Audio-Advance section and now ZoomAudioDevice should be one of the options (only after trying to share OBS inside of ZOOM with the “Share My Computer Sound” checked). Choose ZoomAudioDevice as the Master Device and try sharing your OBS Display once more in ZOOM. Now everything should work. Steps to Livestream from OBS into ZOOM 1. Open the OBS software 2. Go to Settings -then- Audio -then- Advance and make sure your Monitoring Device is set to “ZoomAudioDevice” for Mac users and whatever your main sound card is for Windows/PC users. 3. Click on “OK” or “Save” at the bottom right or exit out the Settings Screen and then click the “Yes” or “Save” option. 4. Right click on the Program Video Side 5. Select “FullScreen Projector (Program)” -then- Display 2 (click Display 1 if you’re using only 1 computer monitor and you’ll just see the Live Stream Window in the OBS Studio) ***Also, make sure the mic/aux or audio/video file in your scenes have the audio setting set to “monitoring and output.”*** 6. Open the Zoom software and start meeting 7. Click on “Join with Computer Audio” 8. Once your Zoom Meeting has started, * a) Mute Mic in Zoom * b) Press the Green “Share Screen” button * c) Pick the “OBS-” option (not the OBS - OBS Studio…. option) * d) Check “Share Computer Sound” and “Optimize Screen Share for Video Clip” options * e) Click on the blue share button I hope this works for you. Good Luck.

Hi Ramesh, I make music and DJ on my laptop, so everything you probably saw was all of my sound card options from the different music software and hardware I use. @theHitmanDDub

Hi Adithya, I’m not sure about the specific requirements like CPU/Ram/Internet Speed, etc. But I’m running a 2013 MacBook Pro maxed out 16 GB Ram and i5 Processor. I also plug an Ethernet cable directly into my computer and internet router, when I live-stream. Plus, I frequently run a software cleaning program to manage my computer speed (emptying caches, non-mandatory RAM files, and defragmentation). I would suggest first making sure everything is updated to the newest version, then make sure you’re not streaming over Wifi but plug directly into your internet box if possible, try and optimize your computer HD so you’re running at a good speed, and lastly try just live-streaming from OBS then Zoom Independently from one another to see if they are functioning correctly. @theHitmanDDub
@theHitmanDDub 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lil2012angle, 1) I don’t have a paid membership to either one. But for Zoom if you are the Host of a Zoom Party, then you might have to pay for a Subscription to have more participants and an unlimited time. But if you go into a Zoom Party as a participant, you don’t have to have a subscription just as long as the Host gives you access to share and control your Zoom mic. 2) You don’t need Restream to stream OBS into Zoom. I only used Restream to stream to other platforms at the same time. Also with a paid Zoom Subscription you can stream to Facebook and KZbin directly from Zoom.

Thanks - I'm a little stuck though. Do you need to be running a second monitor? When I go to full screen, I can't keep it on and go to zoom to screen share. If I share screen first, and then project full screen, it ends the share. Seems like it might need a second screen so I can control OBS and project separately (screen-wise..) ?

Hi Red Horse, You can you use the Windowed Option (if you only have one monitor), but when the Windowed Display isn't in full screen you'll see the task bar of the Window on the Zoom stream. Also sometimes if the Windowed Display isn't the opened screen up front, the Zoom stream on the audience side can become funny looking (the display will become off centered or other glitches might appear on the audience's end). That's why I prefer to use two monitors to use for my set up and the streaming deck to control OBS in the background with Zoom being in the fore ground.

Great info for someone that understands live streaming but way too many distractions for the newcomers that are trying to get there set up going. You got to do this video over because I thought you were most informative from the rest. Take away the distractions and do a script and you would have the best instructional video. Also the glitches is cause by the version of OBS that you are running on the Mac and has to do with 32 bit vs 64 bit versions. I believe there is a download to fix that glitch. Don’t take this as negative criticism.

I was trying to put this together a little before the pandemic closures, not knowing what was about to happen globally. It was meant for a few of my KZbin DJ friends who wanted to know how to get things set up for a Hang Out Session Podcast on KZbin, with just us. Then the huge interest in live-streaming became the big thing especially with Zoom and other Video Conferencing Platforms.

NAACP DeKalb Hi DeKalb, are you using a Mac or Windows/PC? Also make sure each track in your scenes are set to “Monitoring and Output” and not the first default setting option of “Monitoring Off.” Check to make sure you have a Display window going from the OBS broadcast first before clicking on the green “Share Screen” button in ZOOM. Next, click the “OBS Display” option and not the “OBS Studio software.” Hopefully this’ll work. I forgot to also mention, make sure you have your camera source selected in your OBS Scene(s): click + - then select video capture source - name source - then select the camera you want to use.

If you are trying to share your Zoom Meeting inside of OBS and you don't see the Zoom option inside of the "Window Capture" drop down menu, then you might have to give your Mac permission to share your Zoom display. I'm assuming this is a Mac because this was the only time this happened with me as well. When this occurred I got a misc. error message popping up? On my School's MAC computer, I had to go to: * System Preferences * Click on the Security and Privacy icon * Click on the Privacy Tab at the top * Click on the Screen Recording Option that’s in the option list on the left side * Make sure OBS is checked allowing it to record the contents of your screen This should bring up the Zoom option for OBS's windows capture. I hope this works for you. Let me know how it goes.

The ZoomAudioDevice option appeared after I shared my OBS Display in Zoom, if you’re trying to stream OBS inside of a ZOOM Meeting for the first time. After which, this option will automatically be available until you fully uninstall ZOOM from your Mac Computer. So if you’re on a Mac follow all the steps (except for step 2). I hope this helps. Let me know it went.

Hi Precious. Are you getting any misc. error messages popping up? On one computer, I had to go to: * System Preferences * Click on the Security and Privacy icon * Click on the Privacy Tab at the top * Click on the Screen Recording Option that’s in the option list on the left side * Make sure OBS is checked allowing it to record the contents of your screen This should bring up the Zoom option for OBS's windows capture.

How much bandwidth/speed would I need to stream to all networks?
@theHitmanDDub
@theHitmanDDub 4 жыл бұрын
Hi crnmnky, I don't know the exact bandwidth/speed off the top of my head. But I use Spectrum's High Speed Internet that runs at 117Mbps (Download) and 10Mbps (upload) to stream from. The key is you should not try to stream wirelessly over your Wi-Fi but do it using a land line, where an ethernet cord is plugged directly into your computer from your modem. This will help alleviate drop outs. Also if you use www.Restream.io, you are live streaming to one source as normal (to Restream) , but you can tell Restream to send that video source to multiple platforms at the same time without putting any extra stress on your cpu. If you are streaming using both the OBS Studio with Zoom simultaneously, you are using multiple sources to stream at the same time which might put more stress on your cpu. So its a must that you should stay away from streaming this way wirelessly for a better result. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to message me back.

Hi Dwayne. First thanks for your video and everything you do. I have two questions, both in case of zoom -> OBS (os - MacOS): 1) how to get rid of the blink you see on kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWK2c5aBe6qtgsU ? 2) how to put the sound of the zoom conference participants into OBS? If I simply add a zoom as "window capture" and save the recording, the video is recorded, but the sound is not. Thanks.

Hi icef. The answer to question #1 is no. The screens still flicker on my Mac. The answer to #2 took me a second to figure it out. After trying everything I could think of, I tried setting my audio out in Zoom to a third party app called Soundflower (I use it to record audio from my Mac's sound card into Audacity when recording sound from the internet). Then I went into the OBS settings -- then clicked on the audio tab -- and set my audio input from my desktop to Soundflower, and then I was able to capture the Zoom Audio in my OBS Recording. Soundflower DL: soundflower.en.softonic.com/mac I hope this helps you out. I'll try and demo the steps in a video this week end.

Hi Mark, The process would still be the same in OBS. Just click on the "START RECORDING" Tab above "STUDIO MODE" Tab. Everything you see on the "Program" window side would be recorded just like if you were live streaming the display. Also, go into setting--then click on OUTPUTS--then click the Recording Tab--this is where you would pick what kind of file you want to create (ie AVI, MP4, etc) and what folder you want to record to. Good luck. I hope you get everything working like you want it to.

Hi Emmanuel, check out my follow up video to this one. "Step by Step: How to Stream OBS in ZOOM Part 1 | for Mac Users": kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJDNomiPqd58oM0 I go step by step how I did it. People be leaving comments on the video saying how clear the directions and demonstration. Hopefully, that video would help because it sounds like you either didn't select "ZoomAudioDevice" in OBS or "Share Computer Sound" in Zoom. Once your Zoom Meeting has started, * a) Mute Mic in Zoom * b) Press the Green “Share Screen” button * c) Pick the “OBS-” option (not the OBS - OBS Studio…. option) * d) Check “Share Computer Sound” and “Optimize Screen Share for Video Clip” options * e) Click on the blue share button

Good morning Dwayne. One more thing i would like to clear. In the sound set up in OBS, especifically in the advanced audio set up, you keep mentioning to choose "ZoomAudioDevice". It looks to me that you might be talking about a Multi-Output Device you set up in Audio/Midi set up and then it would appear in OBS, because there is no such thing in OBS unless you create it. But you did not mention the steps to go and create it, then you would see it in OBS, so I think that step might be confusing to some newbies like me using a MAC with OBS. But if I am wrong, please feel free to point me in the right direction. Your 2 videos have already helped me set mine up. SO one more time Thank you for your excellent work and devotion in helping others. Be well and be blessed. Awaiting your response please. Thanks

@theHitmanDDub
@theHitmanDDub 4 жыл бұрын
Dj Fader Hi DJ Fader, it seems you’re trying to do this in a impractical manner (as far as trying to get the best sound for your streams). Not saying it can’t be done your way, but not the simplest. 1. If you’re going to stream the way you described to me you are...don’t use OBS. Stream directly into your iOS Device with the iRig. 2. If you’re planning on using OBS to stream you should make sure you have an usb audio interface that’ll take the audio from your mixer and send a clean audio signal to your computer. If you still want your iOS device to be a secondary web cam, plug the device into your computer’s usb slot and now you can select it as video capturing device in OBS. But the main thing to remember is that the iRig is more so for the mobile device for good audio input and an audio interface is good for external audio going into your computer. Hope this helps. I’m going to go live at 8:00 pm (Eastern US Time) tonight to answer questions. Many people have had a lot of questions for me about OBS, Zoom, and streaming and sometimes it easier to verbalize and demonstrate. So make sure to subscribe and hit the bell to be notified when I go live for my OBS or DJ Q&A Sessions.

To be honest, I'm not sure how you would do that all on the same computer. I was just happy to get it to do what you see in the video on a somewhat consistent bases for my students. For what I do, I do have a second computer where I am signed in to the Zoom Meeting to monitor the feed, to see and hear what my students are experiencing, and I can also see all my students on the second computer and the chats. Your streaming set up is way more complicated and more technical than mine. But using a second device or computer is the only solution I can think of right at this moment.

The microphone is on my Logitech HD Webcam C270. **It is just doing it when I live stream to zoom it does not do it when livestreaming to KZbin. ** Zoom Settings are (Speaker) Cable -B Input (VB-Audio Cable B) (Microphone) Cable-A output (VB-Audio Cable A) I want to and need to use the Microphone just trying to get it so I am not hearing it through my USB interphase headset 1810. I also do livestreams as a musician so that headset is not a typical headset and we also run it things through or livestream out of the Studio 5. The problem is just in zoom and without a doubt is related to the virtual cable side of it. Keeping In mind we need to hear those on zoom as well in the mix.
