Thank you, good video. Worth noting a few handy points: - To fully quit a game, just hover over the game in the home menu and press your options button > select close game - The reason PS5 works with the present HDMI 2.1 chipset bug is because its outputting using 4:2:2 chroma rather than 4:4:4 - all that means is its a less quality signal than it could be, but its better than no signal at all at this point!! When the HDMI 2.1 bug is fixed/replaced, we should hope to see the full 4:4:4 output in action.

@SoundUnitedTraining3 жыл бұрын
@@CriPPleR_HD you don't need 48Gbps for any modern display. If you look at 04:21 in the video you will see that 4K@120P (12bit 4:2:2) being passed is just 32 Gbps. This signal far exceeds any modern display's color capabilities since they only utilize 10-bit panels. Whether it was native or upscaled by the source, the bandwidth is the same.
@CriPPleR_HD3 жыл бұрын
@@SoundUnitedTraining Hi Phil! I never said that you need the full 48gbs bandwidth of 2.1. To clarify, what I meant to say was that you do need the full 40gbs for 4K@120hz 10bit 4:4:4 chroma sampling. For whatever reason, the 2020 2.1 ports on the Denon / Marantz are not accepting this bandwidth. If @greg cares about having a working 2.1 port on his receiver that passes the full bandwidth of 40gbs that Xbox Series X and the RTX 30 series cards, he should hold on to his receipt until Sound United offers a solution. Never said it was a 48gbs issue.

@@CriPPleR_HD Once communication is established between the source (like a PS5) in FRL, the AVR will pass up to 40Gbps. Issues are communication-based, not due to bandwidth. BTW the RTX30 cards work, just make sure they are updated.

Than you mentioning turning on/off components after setting up your gear. I have the Denon 3700H and ran into a problem with that and my Oppo 203D. The problem being the Oppo would not put out any sound - regardless of all my troubleshooting over the course of almost a week. After pulling out most of what's left of my hair I remember talking to Oppo when I had a problem with my 103D. All I had to do was a hard reset on my Oppo203. Specifically, with the unit on unplug the 203 and turn the unit and bingo. Sometimes the easiest fix is the simplest fix. With the complexities of electronics these days it's a wonder that anything works.

I think if you were PS5 -> TV you would use eARC PS5 -> AVR you would not use eARC Supposedly VRR and ALLM take care of that. The reason that the PS5 is not having the issue is because it is not using 4K@120 with 10bit 4:4:4 chroma sampling. The problem is bandwidth. Thing to keep in mind that 120hz mode in CoD is not 4K. Your PS4 is pretty much using HDMI 2.0 bandwidth hence no compatibility issues. The moment that PS5 supports 4K@120 10bit, 4:4:4 (which is why we need 2.1) the Marantz will run into the same issue as it has with the RTX 30 series and the Xbox Series X.

@@TechnoDad yamaha has stated their hdmi boards will be the same on newer models as last model. Does this mean they're just fixing the problem via firmware? Read what yamaha said below The RX-A2A uses the same HDMI board as the RX-V6A, so the HDMI chipset bug will be solved using the same method as previously stated concerning RX-V4A & RX-V6A models. HDMI 2.1 functions will be enabled on the RX-V4A, RX-V6A & RX-A2A via a future update next year. Please rest assured that when we enable HDMI 2.1 operation, we will also provide our customers with a permanent solution as needed. ETA and method of update to be confirmed."

Hi Technodad - I have a Marantz SR8012 - I know that at some point Marantz announced that the flagship will be upgradable to 8k - I contacted Marantz Europe and they replied around 2 months ago that when they will be ready they will announce the upgrade. Do you know anything about this. Thanks - regards from Poland

Yep! I can confirm as well ! Seems the PS5 at the moment only use 4K@120hz 4:2:2 and 4@120 hz 4:2:0 . I did a couple of tests with my LG C9 and Denon X4700H .Sometimes I got some black screen issues, but the signal come back after turn off and turn on the AVR over and over.,Accordingly to the guys from AVS Forum, this bug is related to 4k@120hz 4:4:4 output only.
@TechnoDad3 жыл бұрын
I see, so the 4:2:2 is a limitation of the PS5 and the Xbox supports 4:4:4 and that just won't work.

The issue with select HDMI 2.1 devices is a communication issue, not a bandwidth issue. Once communication is established between an HDMI 2.1 source, receiver and the display up to 4K@120hz 10bit 4:4:4 (40Gbps bandwidth) is supported.

Hi Moose! Passthrough.
@SIRKGM14vg3 жыл бұрын
@@TechnoDad Thanks for the quick response. So I think I see why this may work. I’ve been checking out a few videos and trying to determine why this is the case. And you’ll have to bare with me, cause will be a bit lengthy. But I appreciate the read. What I’m working with: - XSX & PS5 - Yamaha RV-6VA (which I opted for because of the bug over the the Denon x6700h) - LG CX OLED For the PS5 I notice that regardless of what setting there is a max bandwidth of 32Gb/s - while on the XSX, I’m able to get 40 (max supported by CX). And that setting comes down to 4:4:4 vs 4:2:2 on the XSX and PS5 respectively. Me thinks, the reason why pass through works is because the unique configuration specifications of the PS5 somehow fall into tolerable setup. Now Yamaha doesn’t have 4K/120Hz pass through yet, and that I can confirm. So I tried turning off HDR on XSX and that still wouldn’t work. What are your thoughts? Also note I’m able to get full PC RGB which is 4:4:4 on PS5 by changing the input via the CX Home Dashboard from Game to PC.

Hey Tencho Dad, looking forward to have a confirmation if the Ps5 has HDMI chipset of 48 Gbps or 40Gbps like the Xbox Series X
@filipeperry3 жыл бұрын
It’s hard to confirm . The only certainty we have is that ps5 is currently using 32 Gbps (4k @ 120 4: 2: 2).
@SoundUnitedTraining3 жыл бұрын
4K120P (10bit 4:4:4) is just 40Gbps which the AVR will pass. You don't need 48Gbps for any modern display which all use 10-bit panels. If you look at 04:21 in the video you will see that 4K@120P (12bit 4:2:2) being passed is just 32 Gbps. This signal far exceeds any modern display's color capabilities since they only utilize 10-bit panels. No current HDMI 2.1 display can support more than that. BTW, whether it was native or upscaled by the source, the bandwidth is the same.
