I have been trying to figure out how to get access to remote access on my plex. But I have not been able to, I bought the plex pass assuming that would help but my understanding is an issue with bypassing some issues with the router which looks like you just showed me how to bypass that. Hopefully it'll work for me. I have a Mac Mini, so the process is probably different. But I'm going to try it. And like you said, I do not have access to the router. Because I am currently renting a room, which means the router isn't possible for me to do port Ford so I hope this works. Now I purchased a travel router, which gives me a lot of access. But I still have to connect it to the owner's router, and nothing works. I'm hoping this works. Thank you. Now there's different ways that I can set the travel router. And I said it. As a repeater, it gives me the option to set it as a WI-FI extender or as a router. The only options is the 2 which is extender or a repeater. Because like I said, I am renting a room and I don't have the details. I need to access their router. Thank you again, and I just subscribe to you.

Thanks for watching and Subbing! as to your question if you have your plex server on your mac mini and you are traveling the best way i would do this is by just installing tailscale on your mac mini and on your phone that way both devices will be connected to the same network using tailnet (tailscale) and all you need to do to access is, is by putting the tailscale ip given to your Mac Mini with the plex server Port Number I Hope this helps your issue tailscale.com/download/mac www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/?cat=computer&plat=macos#plex-media-server

@@JeffComputerService It worked at home last night. When I plugged it in at remote site today, it did not seem to be automatically logging into tailscale. Any ideas why not ? Maybe I should just reinstall because I did lots of proxmox updates too - when I figured out how to disable the enterprise stuff.

@LarryKapp1 you could try to remove the Tailscale from the terminal in Proxmox and install it again instead of starting from scratch use (apt remove [package_name] )

@@JeffComputerService I figured out the issue. I had it all set up at home and that writes in the ip into a file in etc/network . I forget the exact name of file now but all I had to do was change the IP and gateway IP to what the new network used at the remote location and then it logged on right away.

My web browser said " This site can't be reached" after i copy the Tailscale IP with the TCP port number 8006. I did a ping test from Proxmox shell , Tailscale IP & PC are pingable (but PC cannot ping Tailscale IP 100.xx.xx.xx). As long as both my PC & Proxmox can reach Internet (we don't have to care about the internal routing parts). I have tried turned off Windows Defender Firewall still same. Pls advise me.

Do we need to install Tailscale client on Windows VM , As we have installed the Tailscale on the Proxmox node , in this case we can only access Proxmox Mode. Can we access Windows VM remotely outside the local network?

Hi @alphaomega5017 Yes if you install tailscale on proxmox you also need to install tailscale on the windows VM if it is outside proxmox but if your VM is already on your Hypervisor Proxmox then no But if you want (this is optional) you don't want to access the Server directly you can install tailscale on the virtual machine in your Proxmox server once you are inside you can access the server using the IP you setup originally for your Proxmox Server Hope this helps 😁

@@JeffComputerService I just have 1 more question though. How would i access my Windows 10 VM through my laptop? I have them both on tailscale but am i missing the port or something? I have the IP and i have tried ports like :443 but i am not able to access it still...

you can try Remote desktop connection just put the ip provided by tailscale and you should be able to login remotely also both computers must be windows pro edition to use the feature of RDP hope this helps
