Excellent video Juan, this is the content we all need to maximize our understanding of the FrSky system. Quite a departure for someone coming from say JR 12X, but it's a wonderful and very versatile system once you get used to it.❤😂

@@skyboundrc With this video I did a new setup in my 67 Pilot Laser, TD SR10 so virtually the same as yours. Many planes to go but I would like to say to anyone that is watching that although the new 1.6 seems to be too much of a change, the actual setups are easier and do make more sense. I will do the rest of my electrics today with confidence, and the gassers when a friend stops by to help orient the receivers for the calibration ( can't be bothered to take them out ). But the good thing about that is he is also on the FrSky bandwagon now, I can pass on your lessons. Thank you

Hi Juan, excellent video, thanks ! 👍 I noticed you performed a reset after having calibrated the axis. Resetting at this point would clear the calibration which has to be performed again.

Important to note that if you use the FUNCTION SWITCHES for your GYRO GAIN, they need to be set to MOMENTARY under the EDIT MODEL screen.

Hi Juan, This is really helpful. Thanks a lot! A few questions please. 1.) Could you please confirm your recommendation is that we once again take out the RCVR (ugh...) and start from zero for all models (for setup and calibration of stabilized RCVR) having a receiver running pre 3.0.1 firmware release? .. if so, I _really_ hope FRSKY no longer requires all that again after this release.... 2.) Even if you're not using the stabilization functionality of a stabilized (SxR) capable receiver, did you also have to re-register and BIND those RCVRs after the 3.01 update? A hopefully helpful prerequisite hint. Be sure to check out Juan's other video noted above. You definitely need to have the latest receiver firmware and transmitter's LUA scripts updated, not just the TX firmware by the time you get to 4:30 in this video. As a side note. After updating my X20R firmware via ETHOS, it now has a box under System that says "Device Config" but no associated image. Everything else seems to be OK.
@skyboundrcКүн бұрын
1.- My understanding is that the 6 axis calibration has to be done again in 3.0.1. Yeah, I agree that it sucks and they should get better at backwards compatibility and avoiding this kind of extra work on the user. In general, I think that the setup UI of stabilizer receivers from FrSky needs to improve to get up to speed with competitors. 2.- I don't think you need to re-register and re-bind.
@Wilbur-l5v13 сағат бұрын
@@skyboundrc OK. Thx. BTW I did have to reregister and rebind my TW and TD stabilized RCVRs. Don't get me wrong - I really really like my X20R and have not had any issues with it, but this pulling out the receivers esp. buried in some gliders that otherwise do the OTA without a problem to recalibrate is a total headache. Why there is no mention of this recalibration requirement in the ETHOS 1.6.0 "Update News" is really unacceptable. One last question on this topic :-) The new System > Device Config is there and working, but when I 'swipe right' to the next System page, next to "Info" my radio still shows the (3) previous Lua version stab related icons "TW/TD SRX basic", "TD/TW SRC cali" and "TD/TW SRX stab". Shouldn't the new Lua script StabilizerConfig v. 3.2.0 completely replace these three functionally and delete them when installing the new Lua Library item? Thanks again for your guidance on all of this!

Excellent walk through. Very helpful. Thank you. One question: I noticed you used PWM Centre to centre your control surfaces. Is it better to use PWM Centre rather than Sub-trim and why?
@skyboundrc2 күн бұрын
Thanks! PWM center adjusts the entire servo range while maintaining equal travel in both directions. Subtrim only shifts the center point, which creates uneven travel: With subtrim +20%: - Up travel: 80% (20% to 100%) - Down travel: 120% (20% to -100%) - Result: Uneven control movement With PWM center +20%: - Up travel: 100% - Down travel: 100% - Result: Full, balanced range just shifted to a new position For control surfaces, PWM center is generally better as it maintains consistent, symmetric movement in both directions.
@cx9drvr2 күн бұрын
@@skyboundrc Thanks. That makes sense. I will use PWM centre from now on.

So good as usual! Unfortunately, my X20RS is stuck on 6-axis calibration, stating, "Please wait until calibration finished ..." and never completes when trying to calibrate my TD SR10. The receiver is connected and flashing blue and on 3.0.1
@skyboundrc2 күн бұрын
hmm, that's pretty frustrating. Does it happen after going through all the different positions? Or midway during the calibration?
@jkru762 күн бұрын
@@skyboundrc I found out the issue happens right at the beginning. Under basic configure the Gyro mode was set to Advance and Advance config was enabled. When I turned Gryro mode to basic, it began calibration (this might help others. Not sure if that's a bug or feature :)) However, now it does not finish calibration. The receiver seems to be in an endless cycle of reboot where the telemetry is lost, and then telemetry is recovered while the light on the receiver cycles. If I unplug the receiver and plug it in again, I can start the process, but unfortunately, ending up at the same place. I did ensure that the RX FW is 3.0.1 for the 10 CH TD SR10. Other than re-flashing the firmware again not sure what to try.

Thank you for your nice video! In case of updating an existing model, usually some channels are reversed in the Output. Now it is no longer required to un-reverse the channels during calibrations?
@skyboundrcКүн бұрын
hmm, I think you're correct that you don't need to do that anymore, but in any case, the way I always think about this is: 1 - Ensure gyro is doing the right thing on its own. Reverse ch in gyro settings as needed. 2 - Ensure sticks -> surfaces move in the right direction. Reverse ch in outpus as needed. 3.- Check again that gyro is moving in the right directions, even after reversing channels in outputs. If things work well here, you should be good to go.

Im just upgrading from my old JR12X so all this is like a foreign language to me. Im impressed with the Frsky systems and have started to educate myself. Will have to re visit this video once the upgrade is complete. Hope the learning curve isnt as steep as Taranis open tx. Looks like setting up a plane will take 5x as long as before. Im willing to push through with more modern equipment. Can you say how much longer it actualy takes to adjust mixes etc at the field with the X20 compared to say a spektrum tx? Thats a concern I have as time is always limited. Thanks.
@skyboundrcКүн бұрын
hi! Once you get past the initial learning curve (similar learning time than any other radio system), I'd say is very fast. You can do a lot of cool things fairly easily, and you can always copy/paste things as needed, if you have tricky mixes setup that you don't want to redo from scratch. Alternatives like Spektrum might feel in some ways easier, but I think that's mainly due to how limited the programming capabilities are.

Gyro setup is the one area where I think FrSky still takes significantly longer than anybody else and I hope that improves in the future.

Can anybody help new to Frsky. I'm settingup the Var Gain using the method in the video. When I select ACTIONS function button (FS4) then select the amount of gain (2.0) under the values heading, the values start to rise until they reach 100% this does not happen in the video. So I can't control the amount of increase the same happens when decrease the value (this lowers until-100% Any thoughts please

@Ziet1 To use any of the 6 buttons at the bottom of the radio the way I'm doing it, make sure to set "Function Switches" to "Momentary" in your "Edit Model" page.

Excellent ! Question - for an F16 with flaperons I want gain on the aileron function in both zero flap and also when flap is deployed but obviously the center point for the surface is now different. Any suggestions on how to achieve this? Thanks again
@skyboundrc2 күн бұрын
Hello! Sorry, I'm not sure I fully understand the issue.In principle, you could use a setup similar to the one in this video to configure the gyro for aileron stabilization. Separately, add a flaperon mix that moves each aileron down by the desired amount for flap deployment. This setup should be independent of the gyro's operation; the gyro will still provide stabilization based on the current center point of the control surface, whether flaps are up or down. What specific issue are you encountering with this setup? Are you seeing unwanted interactions between the gyro and the flaperon mix, or is it something else? Let me know, and I’ll do my best to help!

Awesome video, just one question. Everything is working properly now on my SR10 plus receiver but for some reason my flaps which are in ch 5 is not doing anything now so I moved it to ch 7. What could be causing ch5 and 6 to not do anything? Any help would be greatly appreciated
@skyboundrc2 күн бұрын
Yes, by default, ch5 and ch6 are stabilized. The SR10 Plus bank 1 expects Ch5 to be used for aileron 2 and ch6 for elevator 2. Try going to the Bank 1 configuration and set channels 5 and 6 to Aux and see if those behave differently now

hi! What specifically is not working with the logic switch? Make sure in your "Edit model" screen you have "function switches" set to "momentary". Regarding the name of the Var, it's "GYRO GAIN" across the video. Where do you see it under a different name?
