I'm not sure, but it would surprise me if you can run SuperRack on a flow8. I don't have any flow8 so I can't really try.

I'm using the Dante card because that was the only thing available during covid and works just fine set up is the same, the waves card was out for a long time and they finally got restocked like a few months ago.

Great video and super timely! We just received our Waves card for dLive and I’ve been looking to test drive SuperRack Performer. Could I ask what your typical round-trip latency is with this setup? I’m going to be trying out an M1 iMac, which I assume will be good, but not great.

Well with my Mac air M1 I’m looking at around 40ms, give or take. So for smaller venues I only run FX through it. If you are looking into fully utilizing Waves you need to go for the big boy SuperRack. But for say reverb’s it’s absolutely fine. And the waves card is obviously great for tracking and virtual soundcheck as well.

How is it 40ms when its an M1 and oyu are uisiong an inboard waves card?? On USB with a 2017 i7-7700 Im getting 4ms on 64 samples??@@joevegna

Hi Joe, Thank you for the video! Is it a better idea to run a Dante card on the Dlive to use plugins other than waves? Does this have less latency? With live professor as the host.

Good question. And I don’t really know. With SuperRack Performer you can run any vst3 plugins just like Live Professor. So the question is really if Dante is faster than SoundGrid i guess. And I think it comes down to what buffer size you set in the host. Would be interesting to test to be able to give you a better answer.

@@joevegna Yeah, the buffer size in Qrec seems high to me. it might be faster with a dante card in the desk and a PCIE dante card in a PC. THNX, i'm looking in to buying a Dlive in the not so distant future.

Is there a way to get superrack to display the channel selected when you hit select in the console surface?

Nope. And that’s really due to that a channel in SuperRack doesn’t correspond to a channel in Dlive but rather a output or insert point. In theory you can send ch1 in Dlive to all channels in SuperRack at the same time. And patch it back in a number of different ways. So at this point there is no way for SuperRack to know if it’s an insert or part of a chain or a parallel path. It’s really 2 separate systems sending audio back and forth.

HI. I have waves super rack on my pc. I would like to use it on sq7 via USB. How many insert effects could I use? I would like to have some plugins on drum bus, bass, vocal and master out.

On SQ i think you can have 32 paths if I’m not mistaken. The amount of inserts depends on how much your pc can handle. But running a few plugins on a few busses should be possible on just about any computer. With a beefier cpu you can run more plugins.

Could you make a list of plugins that are latency free? I would love to se plugins you use and recommended(not only waves) have you ever tried to use something from newest UAD?

Since I mix 98% with the Waves LV1 mixer I don't really use SuperRack all that much. But a list of latency free plugins is actually a great idea and I will look into that. With UAD I've only really used it in the studio, not live. But I absolutely love most of their stuff.

@@serioushobbies9682 A bit of latency is to be expected, but there should be no dubbing. What are you using SuperRack for? Masterbus, channels, FX?

On DLive: No. The console has to be able to send receive multi tracks via usb. So for DLive you need the Waves card.

Well as long as you have the plugins and licenses installed they should just turn up in SuperRack Performer. I did not do anything but install SRP and every plugin I had installed on the computer was in the plugin list.

What kind of system latency are you seeing? Obviously everyone's setup will be different (and have different latency times), but I haven't seen a lot of first person information about this system with regard to latency times.

I haven’t measured. But on a smaller club stage I will hear the acoustic snare drum before hearing it from the PA. So a guess is that I’m looking at 40ms, give or take. So for small stages I only run reverbs and delays through it. And possibly lines for streaming or similar. That’s with the Mac air M1.

The latency depends on your buffer size. Which depends on how many plugins you need to run. Lowest latency I have had is about 2ms.

Hi. To my knowledge it's not possible to record to iPad with Soundgrid. But Nuendo should be able to find Soundgrid as an audio device. Have you downloaded the ASIO driver from Waves Central (as shown in the video)? I use Reaper myself and there it's as easy as installing the ASIO driver and select Soundgrid as the sound device. Check out my video about Virtual Soundcheck, that might give som more info.
