Here is how to set up the Sony Soundbar HT X8500. This single 2.1 channel Soundbar from Sony costs Rs. 30,000 and supports eARC. In this video, we show you how to set it up. Thanks to eARC, it supports formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS-X. It does not have upward-firing drivers and it uses virtual surround sound to simulate a Dolby Atmos experience. In the box, you get the soundbar along with remote control, power adapter and an HDMI cable. The soundbar has HDMI passthrough with support for 4K and HDR including Dolby Vision.

I’m kinda impressed with this. Only 2 speakers and 2 subs and I’m blown away how good it sounds. The subs are good and that surprised me it’s not going to knock pictures off the walls but it’s enough bass to feel on the floor. The vertical engine dose an alright job of making the surround effects happen out of just two speakers

@@atf56 it doesn’t it kinda fakes it in software but it still sounds good. But Atmos is not about how many speakers it’s about where the speakers are placed. I’ve seen an Atmos setup of like 10 speakers and it sounded amazing. Atmos works with as little as two speakers but of course it’ll always sound better with multiple speakers placed in the right areas

@@ryans413 thank you! I have some other doubts regarding the atmos software. I am using an lg soundbar(non atmos, but support dolby digital plus and dts) connected with my high-end pc. I bought dolby atmos for headphones software from Windows store(dolby access app) the lg soundbar is connected via spdif/optical output. Surprisingly the 'dolby atmos for headphones' working with the soundbar!! My sound bar is 2.1. so the atmos for headphones software subscription work with speakers too?? I'm confused..Pls enlighten me

@@atf56 dose the sound bar do Dolby Atmos the only way to get Dolby Atmos to the sound bar is to use HDMI not optical then the sound bar will use it own software to give you Atmos. You could use your headphones if your pc dose Atmos that’ll work with headphones

@@ryans413 thanks!! No my soundbar has no atmos support it only supports dolby digital plus and dts . But the atmos for headphones is working with the soundbar don't know if it gives the same quality..But the difference is clear..When I select 'atmos for headphones' in PC's speaker property the sound gives more clarity, bass and lively feel and noticeably but slightly larger soundstage.. I'm using it..Am I the only one using it the way?? What do you think about this phenomenal?? If you are stuck with a similar setup do you use atmos this way?

My experience is yes it doesn't provide you the overhead sound you expect from a dolby atmos soundbar but the sound is crisp and very loud. The audio is very clear no matter how loud you pump up the volume. Speaking about the built in subwoofers, I am surprised the amount of bass they produce. It has 3 settings for bass output and I keep it on the setting 2 maximum because 3 is very extreme bass. A perfect audio and bass for your living room. If you want to experience how good this soundbar sounds, you need to put in a dolby atmos source and see the power of this soundbar. By dolby atmos source I don't mean to test youtube dolby atmos videos or sounds (because they are heavily compressed) so play a 4k dolby atmos enabled movie and enjoy. Other dolby atmos enabled soundbars cost twice or even more so if you are someone like me who can't afford those very expensive audio systems but want decent audio, this one is for you. Perfect value for money.

I purchased a LG C1 55in TV a few weeks ago and also grabbed a Sony x8500 Atmos soundbar. I have no idea why this is causing me such problems it's almost as if the HDMI port two for the arc on my TV is not recognizing the soundbar. I replaced this with a rather crappy one that sounded much better. So I don't know what's going on as I try to assign the HDMI port to the Soundbar but nothing spectacular. I also understand that there's not a lot of Atmos content but there's gotta be something very basic that I'm not doing right. Any suggestions?

Hello i got a QE556FN Samsung Qled 55" tv. Connected with the sony soundbar htx8500. I got them both connected with the (ARC) HDMI, using a HDMI 2.1 cable but Dolby Atmos isnt working on the soundbar. Everytime I use a movie with dolby atmos surround the tv does show audio Dolby Digital + but when I press Cinema on the remote controller I see the led lights of the 3 on the left on the soundbar ( Dolby atmos DTX and 1 more turn on and then it switches back to TV sound and vertical sound. Dolby atmos just doesn't stay active.. Any solutions?

Hello,, I got a problem with my Sony DN860 Reciver and my Optoma UHZ65UST, projector, it doesn’t detected HDR when I played it through my Sony 4K blue ray till I change the installation, even I got delay audio, (I plugged HDMI ARC Reciver with HDMI ARC Optoma), then; HDMI Sony blue ray to HDMI Sony Reciver but this method doesn’t detected HDR and it’s also delay the sound with the video! So, I changed the installation to the following, The HDMI ARC between the projector and the Ricever still the same, I only moved the HDMI blue ray cable from the Reciver to the HDMI port of the projector directly, and in this case no Delay and HDR has been detected automatically, Dose my installation correct ? Or what do you Advise me, explain me more please, where is the problem?, is it on my Sony reciver ?

Hey, I am planning to buy soundbar for my PC which has 4K monitor (BenQ EW3270U) as well. My motherboard has 5+ Optical S/PDIF port for audio (Realtek ALC1200 Codec). This soundbar will be in my bedroom and I don't want 5.1 speaker setup. So I have rounded off few soundbars in a price range I can invest, can you suggest which one should I pick or if you have any other in this range that I should consider, that would be really helpful. P.S. I am not keen on thumping bass from woofer, just looking for crystal clear audio, channel separation, awesome clarity and good mix of high, mid and lows. Anything else apart from this will be added bonus. I have a 4K HDR Sony TV. It only has two enhanced HDMI ports. One of them is also the ARC port. Currently I have a PS4 Pro on the first enhanced port and an older sound base on the other (ARC). You can connect something like an xbox to the hdmi In and then the tv to hdmi out. This can help with cable cleanup or if you have an old tv that doesn't support advanced dolby features

The sound of this soundbar is very nice and crisp. Its very loud and sound stays clear. The bass is enough for me. It won't shake your room but you will definitely feel the punch. In this price its the best soundbar without a subwoofer. The only downside I find is there is no on screen display so you need to check everything while staying near the soundbar but once you find your best settings then you can just enjoy the sound. Also this soundbar is now cheaper than when it was released.

Hi, I recently bought this sound bar, if I have the sound bar connected to my tv (Sony xh90) via the 2.1 eARC/ARC port (I’ve currently got it connected via OPTICAL) will I get everything through the the sound bar? Hello, i have got the same (sony ht-x8500 soundbar), I can see it has only 2 HDMI port input and output, the first one it’s a ARC HDMI port, and a second normal one, I have a Sony Bravia 3D TV witch has 4 HDMI ports including the ARC one,I would ask you kindly to explain me how to connect the following 3 devices To my Sony soundbar and TV, (Sony Blu-ray player, PS4, satellite receiver box) ? Should I plug the: - ARC HDMI cable between the TV and the soundbar first, then I plug Each one separately: - The Blu-ray player TO the HDMI TV port/1. - The PS4 TO the HDMI TV Port/2. - The satellite receiver box to the HDMI TV port/3 Does this method works correctly? or there is some method else!? Advice me more PLEASE. Thank you.

Your method is correct. You also have an extra port at the back of the soundbar. So you can plug a 4th device there without needing to unplug any of your already plugged three devices.

Dolby atmos is enabled when you have a dolby atmos source. You don't need to enable or disable atmos. It will be enabled by default when you have a dolby atmos enabled source.

I tested with the Altered Carbon series but nothing happened! I mean no DTS or Dolby Armos is blinking or indicating!

@@Hamed110914 do you have the 4k package and high speed internet? Dolby atmos is supported only in 4k package on Netflix. Dolby atmos is detected itself. You don't need to press any button for that.

@@Kashif314 Yes, I have the the 4k sony X8505 with high speed internet. I've tested Altered Carbon on Netflix as you showed in your review. I was just wondering if the Atmos or DTS LED on the soundbar is going to be blinking/indicating when the function is available or not?

@@Hamed110914 I am not the reviewer. I am just a KZbin user. The lights don't blink. They just stay "on" as soon as the soundbar detects dtsx or atmos input and the vertical surround engine lights turns on itself. Basically you will have a total of three lights on when you are listens to atmos or dtxs. One light of the hdmi or tv (whatever input is) 2nd light of vertical surround engine and third light is the dtx or atmos and they don't blink. They just stay on constantly as long as the atmos or dtx Output is given to soundbar. You getting them to "on"?
