Took me a few days of troubleshooting but I set up my shure Sm7b to be able to be used with either my companion app or my Xbox party chat to keep the same mic quality at all times.

Hey man liked your video and subscribed to your channel. Thanks for the info I do have a question for you, wanted to see if you can help? I just bought some good headphones, but they do not have a mic, as well as a DAC and an external yeti blue mic. Trying to figure out how to connect to xbox one x? I can connect my headphones to the DAC, but when it comes to the yeti blue external mic not sure how to do it with out using the headphone jack on the xbox controller. The DAC I bought is Fosi Audio Q4 Headphone Amplifier Mini Stereo DAC 24-Bit 192 KHz USB. I did notice it does not have a separate port for the mic. I have been using the splitter to the DAC and trying to connect it that way, the only problem I'm having is the mic is not working. Can you please help!? This is very hard especially with xbox.

how do you record your friends party chat?
@BL4KPANTHER
@BL4KPANTHER 4 жыл бұрын
With this method? When using the Xbox companion app it automatically records be ause it comes through your desktop audio or an any audio cable you set up for it... If it's for the Xbox party then you have a few options. 1) the elgato chat link cable from your controller back into your pc line in or mic input 2) change the settings in your party chat menu on Xbox to both headset and speaker 3) if you have a mixamp (gen 2 or higher) then use the stream port on it and an aux cable to go into your pc line in or mic input.

As I know my the Xbox won't read the mixer as a sound card. You could still run your external stuff to the mixer using a converter. Are you able to just connect the goxlr to it for the party sampling and talking in chat and all that? I heard you just gotta use an optical cable and that’s it. But i don’t know if that’s true or if u need a pc for it or what. I’m confused about this
@BL4KPANTHER
@BL4KPANTHER 4 жыл бұрын
Well optical would be for your overall sound. The party connects either aux or a usb style connection if you use a mixamp. With goxlr it is essentially just like the mixer I have here but with some software added. Simply put your party chat needs to come from somewhere into the goxlr. So if it's the controller then all game sounds would feed into the goxlr or you could feed the line out of the go XLR into the controller port and then use the optical cable from Xbox into your goxlr to capture game sounds.

BL4K PANTHER sp I’m already trying to think of a little audio set up here. I have a usb mic that is plugged into my pc and I’m thinking maybe I could plug in an aux cord from the line out port of my pc and then mic in for the goxlr. And then have a splitter plugged into the controller with two aux cords plugged in. And one goes from the audio out into the headphone jack of the splitter and then the other goes from audio in from the mic port on the splitter. Do you know if that will work? I’m just trying to get this usb mic working with the goxlr while it’s plugged into the Xbox. I know I left the optical cable out of that list but all that was so I could talk in game. And then I was thinking I could just plug in my headset to the headphone in port on the goxlr

Is It possible to use the Apollo Twin Quad Core audio interface instead of a mixer? I have the Elgato Chat Link cable, I plug it into my Apollo which has a Shure SM7B XLR mic. When I plug my headphones into one end of the Y cable and plug the male end of the Y cable into the XBOX controller, my streamers can hear game, my computer and my Shure SM7B microphone. Well in your setup I'm assuming you are running the line out into your pc so a stream software can capture it. If this is the case then just run optical in from console into the mk2 and then 1/4 to aux from the monitor Jack's into the elgato chat link cable. You would then have all your sound coming into the mk2 like a mixamp and then your party chat pumped out the controller into the pc line/ mic in

Not sure how the XBOX will identify the MK2 as a microphone so it sounds a bit confusing but I think I'll be able to handle things when they arrive. This is where I am stuck. I've reached out to Universal Audio, Shure and KZbinrs all over. The optical cable makes a lot of sense, it's having the xbox understand XLR language that has me a little bit in disbelief, but lets see bro. good looks. @@BL4KPANTHER Million dollar question, is the XBOX suppose to identify the XLR mic as it would with a regular mic? I'm using a party chat to verify whether my listeners on XBOX can hear me or not. I have it setup exactly the way you instructed me but it's right back to where I started. Like the XBOX won't identify the microphone for some reason. The Apollo L and R monitor outputs on the Apollo go out to my studio monitors. The optical makes my game sound awesome via studio monitors but using line 3 and 4 on the Apollo, nor using the headphone jack is working. Sounds like you need to go into your companion app settings and set your mic(s) properly. What exactly is the purpose of the USB splitter again in your setup? So watching this and reading your replies over the last couple years, I find that I'm in a slightly different but related scenario, which hopefully has a simple solution as well: I want to use a condenser mic, USB or XLR - doesnt matter to me, as I have both - on a Series X and still stream game audio. With my Astro A40s, a single Chat Link, and a HD60X capture card I can do a basic version but it doesn't sound great due to headset mic. Ideally I'd like to have a single condenser mic be what picks up my voice, for *both* my party *and* my stream, and I'd like the stream to capture game audio for games like Call of Duty so we can hear my team and enemy team. What am I missing in my set up for the most straightforward, streamlined, and hopefully easy set up? Is there a way to do this without a physical pre-amp and/or mixer? I have a PC as well, which I use for the streaming end of things only but if it is the only way to make a solution I'm open to anything.

If using pc for Xbox I would use gamebar app and run my microphone into my computer. Then I would add a usb pedal and make it hotkey ptt then you would use one microphone with all applications including discord. You can then open your streaming software and run everything like your music and use the record function. Your playback will be exactly what your stream would hear. So you adjust levels to your liking without going live

Awesome vid man. I have the Astro a40 and mix amp, I use the stream port from the mixamp as my game and party audio in to SLOBS. If I got a mixer and XLR mic think I could plus the mix amp into one channel of mixer and xlr into the other then just mute my head set mic this would work? Obviously use the Xbox app to set up party chat. I have no cap card either I use companion app to capture game just starting streaming, apologies if this sounds Newby ha!
@BL4KPANTHER
@BL4KPANTHER 4 жыл бұрын
Okay so yes you can get a mixer and run your streamport out into the first channel of that mixer and then your XLR mic into the second channel of that mixer but you would still need to run the main outs back into your streaming computer. also you need to remember that you would have to have a cable to use for your aux or effects send out of your XLR channel that goes into your controller. now if you're wanting to use just companion app then you don't need to do any of that at all, you can just use companion app and set your mix that goes into the computer as your input device inside of the companion app. if you decided to run the streamport into the mixer then you would just go in your Astro Command Center and mute your mic so it doesn't layer in the mix and then use the toggle mute on your headset or just pull the microphone out since you won't need that microphone.

you do not need a stereo adapter in order for it to work, check my video all you need is a CTI splitter

I use the adapter for the mute function. Way better to just click it with your thumb

@@BL4KPANTHER true but you make it seem like you NEED it you can mute your mic in party chat. In reality all you need is a CTI splitter.

@@ethanhelmett8823 no I don’t. ..don’t reach. It’s way easier to just use your thumb vs going into the menu and hitting mute. Noone can dispute that and it takes away from gameplay. Here you can continue like normal and be fine in less than a second

Do you have mic monitoring ?
@BL4KPANTHER
@BL4KPANTHER 4 жыл бұрын
I do yes but it's because I'm using voicemeter and playing the mic back through my computer. I have an aux cable that runs from my headphone jack of my computer into the aux of my mixamp so I hear everything from my computer in my headset

Why do u have an sm7b 3 monitors for Xbox lol so overkill.
@BL4KPANTHER
@BL4KPANTHER 4 жыл бұрын
Why do you not? 1 monitor for the game, 1 for bots/streaming software and 1 so I can maneuver freely on my actual pc when I need to do stuff while streaming and of course one of the best mics in the game. That's actually pretty standard and sounds like you just don't have any of it

BL4K PANTHER No I’m pc master ace so I’m a pc gamer. All I’m saying is you on a console lol and your using that kind of equipment. Just get a good pc.

@@Jai-mv8jr even with a "good pc", which I actually already have built from scratch, you would need at least two monitors for less clutter when creating content. You don't actually stream do you?

BL4K PANTHER I do just you said you do it on an Xbox one x so I thought 3 monitors was overkill and I do stream.

Just all these expensive pieces of equipment could have easily been substituted with a good pc

It’s an xbox not a computer my friend. If you have a interface for mic you can run audio out from controller (i think) into interface which then can go into daw on computer

Cab you just plug it into ps4

In theory it should work that way but I need to test to see if that controller outputs audio and mic through the jack. If it doesn't then you wouldn't be able to without a computer gaming headphone style splitter
