Thank you for the lesson. Buttons have always been guesswork supported by the brute force of random, excessive and chaotic needlework. Much appreciated.

Hadn’t heard of the toothpick trick before, but the reason behind it makes so much sense! Thank you, the video was clear and concise.

currently making a costume for ren-fair, thank you for the tips!!! I didn't even consider the gap behind the button for the fabric to sit in!!

Hi Paige I wasn't able to get this to work. It seems as though the fabric is pre-cut to the correct length in your video. What is the length required? Also it seems as though you are doubling up the thread. Can you confirm? And how do you get that onto the needle? When I tried I couldn't get it to go through the loop in the needle.

Thank you so much! Very helpful. I was sewing my buttons all wrong. They needed to have a little slack or space and using a toothpick is such a great idea.

Very good Ma'am ! I'm about to try some sewing today. Oh I've tried before, but just wasted thread and time making goofy knots that didn't hold. I hope your technique here will apply to a button with a built on shank already. Or maybe you have a video for that. Let's hope ! Thanks and Happy Easter from Like 615

Would you do some 1950s or 40s tutorials? And maybe hand stitching tutorials too? You are a great teacher!

Thanks for sharing your requests. That's very helpful to me. I plan on teaching hand sewing techniques. What is an example of a 40s/50s item you want to see?

This is only "correct" if you don't do the X. The x is because Chinese manufacturers use a machine that does this. The correct way would be done in a parrallel position. PS I've been teching fashion and design for 21 years at the high school and college level.
