This is fantastic! I'm making this blouse and decided to do a muslin first and saw a couple of reviews on Sewing Pattern Review site where they had problems with the pieces fitting, so this tutorial is MUCH appreciated! I also love to watch you sew! 🥰

Sometimes we do understand the pattern and know how to sew but it is the little details that make the garment look professional. If anything, I learned to be more patient and find different ways to check if I am taking the next right step and avoid the seam ripper. You are a very careful but easygoing sewer. Thank you for this tutorial, I know it takes a lot of work to produce a neat and clear tutorial.

Thank you so much. I had done a couple of other plackets on some other blouses and I had no problem. But I had gotten this pattern and I tried to figure it out and I just couldn’t and I finally just put it together another way and of course it didn’t come out like it was supposed to. I was so happy to come across this. And your tricks and hints really helped too. Thank you again I think I’m gonna really enjoy this pattern now.

Thankful you posted this. I’ve been so stumped on what my pattern was talking about because instructions not clear nor did it call the bands back and front a placket but had me cut 4 bands for front bands which confused me. In all my sewing years, I’ve never done a placket. Great clear instructions. 😊

Lovely tutorial! I needed this few years ago. I have a pattern for dress and/or top like this that I love. I've used it several times. It took me couple of times before I was comfortable with stitching the longer edges together. In fact first time I sewed it wrong and knew it was very wrong! I kept those directions close and frowned a lot but finally comprehended what I was doing. I'm sure I used pattern pieces like you said and matched all the markings. Like I said I love the pattern and don't mind sewing it anymore. Thx for making it so plain for all the sewists out there that won't make my mistake first time around -- they won't end up with so many frown lines! You make sewing so much more enjoyable with your tutorials!

Thank you Lucy for sharing this excellent tutorial as it can be quite daunting to work these patterns out as they don't seem to go into much detail. Thank goodness for KZbin as I always come here to find out more with what I am having a problem with.

Thanks for another great tutorial, Lucy! I have been nervous about doing a continuous placket on one of my projects, but I feel a lot more confident about tackling it after watching this video - and have picked up some other useful tips along the way to help make my projects look more finished. I LOVE the fabric on your blouse!

That blouse looks lovely. I may buy it. It is always good to actually see things being done. When reading how to do something it does take a lot of pondering and struggles as to what is meant and, if it has been translated it is even worse! I've made plackets before but a long time ago so this is a very good refresher. Thanks so much!😊💖

Hello Lucy, thank you for this informative tutorial. I have made this pattern and like many of your viewers I also had problems with the neckband and placket, so much so I didn’t want to make this blouse again. However after watching this tutorial I am going to revisit the pattern with a view to sewing another blouse in the future. Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial. Take care 🧵🪡😊

I love your detailed instructions, which are good as I haven’t done much sewing since I was a teenager, many years ago, but I would point out that when I was taught to sew we pinned and tacked by hand, then sewed it on the machine. I think this is still good practice and means you can sew without having to stop and start to remove the pins it always looks so awkward to me, i can see that it might be quicker.

That was great ,really well explained.When there is a lot of fabric do you have to stagger the seams by trimming?I wasn't sure if you'd need to do that depending on fabric.i have a medium weight satin crepe I'm thinking of using.Thank you.

First off - great tutorial. I watched your video a couple of times before tackling my own. Next comment I’s about your polka dot blouse you are wearing at the beginning: are you cuffs on backwards? Normally the cuff overlaps from the top. Just curious. Again, thank you for the tutorial.

I have been sewing for years, and this was the most confusing placket I have ever made. Impossible. You've made it a little easier, but it would have helped if you used a solid color fabric rather than such a busy print.

Hi Lucy, thank you for a great tutorial. My machine is a 35year old New Home ( now renamed Janome) Would there be a clear foot like the one in the video, that would fit my machine? SD-2014 low shank. 🤞
@lunasmum6869
@lunasmum6869 2 жыл бұрын
If your presser feet clip on to a little bar on the machine, most do, yes, it will fit. I used to have a New Home machine many years ago and I was able to use all feet with it. Some websites show what machines the feet are compatible with which is very helpful.

Hi Irene, I was using the Huqvarna Designer Diamond which is a sewing and embroidery machine and has sadly been discontinued. However, there are plenty of other Husqvarna machines (and other brands) with these features. I am a massive Husqvarna fan myself and actually have three of their machines. We currently have the full Opal range in stock, they are beautiful machines and have all of those features and more such as selecting the right tension for the fabric type you are using. I think the best thing would be for you to have a chat with the lovely Irena in our office - if you drop her an email to sales@sewessential.co.uk and just say you want to explore some options for sewing machines she can give you a call or send you an email if you prefer to help you narrow things down.

Hi Irene. I have two Husqvarna machines. A Freesia 425 and a Sapphire 960q. Both wonderful machines. The Freesia is a very old electronic machine and is as good as the day I bought it! Husqvarna all the way for me!! The Fix feature is really good. Lucy used it when she was sewing the bottom of the placket as this secures the stitches so you don't have to reverse then go forwards. Really good when precision is needed. I hope you find the best machine for you. I love both my machines but I will give my Freesia to my daughter in law when they buy a house of their own.
