This is the BEST video on a shirt sleeve placket, and there are many. Cameras set up so well so it was as if I was sitting there with you, thank you. Clear, concise instruction, no waffle, but emphasis on the really important bits. (I always stop on a curve, I'm going to try and not stop now!). Thank you so much.

Why, oh why did I not watch this video earlier. I am making my first Fairfield shirt and have watched your other video and your more recent make live, but I remembered they were both short sleeved versions! This video has made everything SO much easier to understand. A HUGE thank you from Scotland!

You got this Derek! I’m supposed to be making some men’s wear this month for live streams but I’ve been working on some stuff in the Guild. I should be back soon.

I have been watching Saremy's live stream for approx 2 years and I love it. It is so nice to see Saremy starting to become recognised in the sewing community.

your method of attaching the cuff facing and cuff separately is awesome

Glad you think so! I do this for waistbands and collar stands too!

The way you folded under the interfaced cuff and folded the seam allowances was ::chef's kiss:: . I've had a lot of gnarly looking cuff corners and now I know what I was doing wrong. Thank you!
@SewSewLive3 жыл бұрын
Ah yes! I’m always so glad I remember to fold it that way. Sometimes I’ll forget and knit another way that still works but this is so subtle and makes it easier. 👍

You will never know how much I needed to see this up close! I have been searching KZbin for this technique for about 2 weeks. My tower placket and sleeves are on my table just waiting for this!! Also huge bonus to see how you attached the cuff! Thank you so much! Between this video and the collar and collar stand I am starting to feel pretty confident that I will have success.

Thanks, Seremy! Clear, as always! I so enjoy your streams and videos! I’ve been trying a neckline placket like this sleeve one (Archer Popover) without very much success. Getting the little “house” points to look even is tricky. I think adding 1/4” to the pattern as you did here might work for me.

Ooh Felicity! I love popover plackets. You might get some tips from the video I did for the Cheyenne Tunic by Hey June Handmade. It’s a popover placket. You can just watch that part. I’m sorry if there aren’t timestamps yet but hopefully one day. Good luck!

What an awesome video. I wish it had existed back when I was learning to make a placket. It would have saved me a lot of frustration. I also love the 'starting at the side seam' tip for finishing the cuff. I actually have a shirt waiting for cuff right now, so I'll definitely try it. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Great instruction - are you a teacher??? ;) These are nice, commonsense tips & tricks! Plackets have always mystified me - this helped out immensely to forge onward (these Vogue instructions are incomprehensible). I also use a quarter (literally) to draw a line if doing rounded cuffs (or templates etc). Thank you!
@SewSewLive3 жыл бұрын
I’m so glad it was useful! I’m not technically a teacher but I’m now passing on my skills from my career in a fun format! So clever to use the quarter - whatever works- right? Someone else mentioned doing that too and it’s genius!

Hello, I need to know if when doing sleeves with packets, do you flip it/mirror when doing the second arm? Because the pattern doesn't explain that
@SewSewLive2 жыл бұрын
Yes! When you cut out your pieces you would have cut two (a left and a right) and usually you’d be cutting them facing each other so you’ll get two that are mirrored. When you see your plackets, you need to make sure you see them the opposite. If your fabric is hard to tell the right side from one another, just make sure you have a left and a right. I think any of my streams where I’m sewing the long sleeved Archer, Fairfield or Jensen will demonstrate this.

Hello. Is there a specific location where the pleats must be placed , or anywhere is fine?
@SewSewLive3 жыл бұрын
Hmm. If you don’t have notches to follow, I’d suggest putting the first one roughly 3/4” from the edge and if there’s a second one, 1/2” away from the first.

Just came across this video. Great job with the tutorial. Very clear with technical a d verbal instructions. Visually for the majority was good, there were several key points, I was unable to see clearly ( Old Eyes 🥸). Very good instructor, pleasant voice and very reassuring thats placket and cuff are very doable ! Just a quick note- When topstitching right side of cuff, I begin at the button end. Too avoid thread at the leading edge, begin on quarter inch in, immediately back stitch and the sew the the remaining cuff. This results in no beginning stitches on the edges and beginning and ending stitches are concealed when cuff is buttoned closed. Thank you and best regards

I like to stop and start at the underarm seam. I don’t like those backpacks anywhere near my closure either! Thanks for watching! I feel you on the eyes part too!
@SewSewLive2 ай бұрын
You can definitely do this! But if there is any reason you have to unpick your cuff, that spot can be a little tricky to seam rip and make it ‘tired’. Thats why I start at the underarm.
