I liked the zipper lesson, as I'm still overthinking my zips, despite throwing them in blindfolded. Now I have the correct measurements, regardless of my seam allowance. I have a cosmetic bag very similar to this pattern. The sides are more pronounced than this as far as width. The original pattern that I downloaded had squares already cut out for boxing. The first one I made did not sit correctly. I knew it had to be the boxing. So, I took my ruler out and drew the entire bottom to it's original shape. I made one with the extensions, and sure enough, it sat correctly. Then I thought, you can take a square out of a triangular shape. I haven't figured out how to mark it, but I have no problem extending it knowing that my boxing will be correct. Thanks Christine 😊

I tried the Dritz tape and you’re correct - it’s not very sticky on fabric, but I had the hardest time getting it separated from the paper backing. I threw it away! I’ve found Alene’s to be the best for me, easy to peel the backing, sticky enough. The adhesive does get on the needle a bit, but I just stitch on a piece of scrap fabric and that cleans it off.

I've used that brand as well. I had the same experience. Several times I'd go and buy a new package, but was never any different. It’s likely not old Dritz stock. I’ve found it’s super sticky to the roll, but not on fabric. And I’ve found it’s very hard to remove the backing without pulling up the tape off the fabric once you finally get it to stick. I am searching for an alternative (in US).

I’m wondering which adhesive tape you prefer for attaching zippers? I’ve used Dritz & another brands & found that I must slide (or rub) my finger nail over the tape before removing the covering strip to keep the sticky glue from pulling away from the fabric.

7:18 do you mean you leave a 1/4 of an inch between the zipper end, and the fold of the tab?
@ChristinesHomeAffairs2 ай бұрын
When you fold over the tab, it needs to be sewn about ¼inch from fold to secure it. You don't want that ¼ encroaching into your side seams as it creates too much bulk
