Going to attempt making myself a motorcycle vest with ripstop army camo outside, Kevlar in the middle and Codura on the inside. Oh, and a back armour that I can remove before washing. And a leather bias binding (didn't know it was called a bias binding before today) on the sleeve. Going through some of your videos. Hopefully, I can pull this off.

Hey thank you for teaching me the right steps. I know how to upcycle clothing. But never made a jacket from scratch so this is educational. The 2 Maine reasons why I want to learn how to make my own clothes is 1 its fun creating and 2 im 6'8 and am very limited in styles so I decided to make my own. I'm gonna try and fix my grandmothers sewing machine its so fuckin cool. Then I have to teach myself how to work it. I've only sewed by hand. So that'll be an adventure. Then I'll come back to this video tweek the pattern a bit and go at it. Thank you though

@bunnanah4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. What is the point of all the back panels if it lies flat? I thought yokes were for adapting to the curve on the back without darts, but when you put all the panels together it was flat. Can anyone explain this for me?
@nataliadedios4 жыл бұрын
honestly I developed this pattern based on a different pattern I made in design school a few years ago! it’s not a 100% perfect pattern (I quickly changed the seam lines from my other jacket instead of drafting a new jacket from a sloper). so you’re right! the yoke and the bottom back piece should be a little bit curved!

Hey, i just want to know if denim jackets have different types of bodice patterns? I mean I'm confused that a basic bodice slopper pattern could help me make a denim jacket because in that slopper there's dart ! And i think jackets don't have darts in it!
@nataliadedios2 жыл бұрын
a basic bodice sloper is only for tops/dresses not outerwear! for outwear different bodices are used :)

Thanks for the great vdo! It Would be nice if you could add metric SA to your further videos. ps : why didn’t you use flat felt seams?
@nataliadedios4 жыл бұрын
thank you! I have been adding cm to my most recent videos and I will continue haha 😅 In production, a sewing machine called “Feed Off The Arm double chainstitch machine” is used for jeans! I don’t have that machine, and I find that doing a “diy” flat felled seam can look a little bit uneven/sloppy. Sewing the seams the way I did was the best way to get that “look” without that machine
