How to Sew a Really Simple Little Drawstring Bag - Tutorial

Welcome to Little Drops of Wonderful! My channel is ALL about crochet, knitting, yarn and crafty stuff. This is a total beginners tutorial on how to make a really simple drawstring bag - let me know how you get on!
You will need:
* An A4 sheet of paper and a pen OR print one of the patterns I drew in this video (PDF links below, make sure to print at 100%) but it's much easier to just draw you own as shown :)
- Yellow Bag template - drive.google.com/file/d/1HZys...
- Denim Bag (just slightly wider than the yellow one) template - drive.google.com/file/d/1_mgS...
* Scissors
* Fabric for your outer bag
* Fabric for your lining
* Interfacing (optional) - I like this stuff www.amazon.co.uk/Vilene-Interfacing-Sew-Heavy-White/dp/B015SXAWH4
* Drawstrings - I buy 5mm drawstring cord on eBay
* Pins or sewing clips
* Thread and a needle or sewing machine :)
Measurements:
- If cutting your own template make sure the top of the bag is at least 21cm wide
- For the drawstring casings cut 2 pieces measuring the length of the bag opening by 10cm
- For the drawstring tabs the measurement is 8cm by 3.5cm
- Seam allowance is a quarter of an inch unless otherwise stated in the video

i did the old fashion tacking when the bag needs sewing all round the top edge and then can use my walking foot and not have to keep stopping to remove pins. Made two one for gift for my next door neighbours' daughter and one for my daughter going to make one for me now and for my best friend. So easy

Love to use or include a drawstring bag with gifts. Especially, small toys that won't be going back into the original packaging like Legos, plastic dinosaurs, Barbie clothes, etc. I even repurposed a paint splatter jeans into gift bags for mini nail polish bottles, toe separater and buffer.

Just lovely!!!!! ... Please consider sewing with an "Open Toe" presser foot, it opens up the center of the foot to a wider view and allows for even more access to create seams really super close to the edges on both, the left & right sides of your sewing area amaZingly well 😊 ✂

I just finished my first drawstring bag following your tutorial. I thought I had memorized your instructions and sadly, I sewed the drawstring tabs to the middle between bag and lining. Ripped it all out and sewed again. Success! You are a wizard.

We have a young dachsund who lives next door. He barks at everything and will not shut up! I spray him with a spray bottle. (with the owner's permission) but it doesn't truly shut him up.

Yes! Me too! ... Sew it right to the front outside main bag piece ... A little square patch can be sewn to the pocket first to give it a little whimsical "home-y patchwork" feel🌸

Love the bags, Ali. That yellow fabric is gorgeous. And I like the neat fabric cord ends. I have some rope for drawstrings that unravels easily and this would be a good way to finish it off.

if you draw your pattern on freezer paper then you can simply iron the freezer paper to your material. and cut it out. works great! can be used over and over again.
