I'm doing this by hand and wasn't sure if I could do it properly on a curved piece of fabric, thanks to this tutorial I know it's possible. Thank you! Hopefully it goes well for me considering I'm using denim haha 😂 😂 😂

Hi Peter. Excellent video, once again. I love the flat felled seam but struggled on how much extra to add on to the pattern piece when doing so and the side, i.e.: front or back pieces. Oh no. I'm so sorry to hear you're struggling with the flat fell seam allowance. Not your fault I'm sure. I hope this helps. With the other flat fell method that I use for jeans, I add 1.5 cm. allowance. I use metric for this because it's easier to remember and employ. Then, I overlap 1cm edge (wrong surface) to 1cm edge (right surface) of fabric pieces. Thus, you'll be looking at 2 right surfaces with overlapping edges, at 1cm over 1cm. Then, I stitch the middle (long stitches). This stitching won't be seen, ever, when you folded the top fabric. This pre-topstitching stitching serves as a reinforcement and a "holder" when I fold the top fabric over the bottom fabric. The fold-over (fell seam) is 1cm (+-). Then I do my. topstitching. Sorry, if it's hard to understand what I'm saying, please refer to my jeans making video that features flat fell seam. And oh, thanks for asking Allison. P.S. If it's still confusing (which I'm sure is), I will make a video just for the method that I told you.

I'd be really interested to see how you flat felled the sleeve seam itself, if you did. I'd like to machine flat fell everything but can't work out how to do sleeves when they create such a narrow tunnel?

Thanks for showing interest. I initially thought of doing it, but decided not to. I remembered doing it a while ago. It was tedious. If the sleeve were short, I would have done the flat fell seam. But then it would be a different type of flat fell.

Tama. May special folder pa para sa operation. Gagawa ako ng isa pang sleeve sewing. Gamit naman ang serger/overlocker. In the future ibang method naman.
