Love this tote. It's a good size for me. I'm not very big and sometimes totes can be a bit overpowering on me. This one looks like it would be just right. Thank you Andrea.

Thanks Sue! This is sized just right for personal use and I agree the bigger totes have the potential to overwhelm the body.

Do you wash the canvas before sewing. What do you do to prevent fraying when you wash it?
@Sewspire3 жыл бұрын
I do not prewash the material I use for bags. If you want to prewash you will need to serge the raw edges.
@galememeeof66885 жыл бұрын
Nice easy and versatile bag, economical too. I was just wondering if doing the gussets on the outside was just a design feature? Is it possible to do them on the inside like you usually do with the duck canvas? I love the ease of this cute bag. Looks like a perfect library book tote bag among many other things.
@sherig.70982 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can do the gussets on the outside of the bag, it looks neater.
@fabulousmarilyn3.0885 жыл бұрын
I don’t have an duck fabric at the time, I do have some outdoor fabric..what you think. What would be the difference?
@Sewspire5 жыл бұрын
Any outdoor, home decor, twill or denim material would work well Marilyn.

Could you use droop cloth to make this tote?
@Sewspire5 жыл бұрын
I think so.
@sherig.70982 жыл бұрын
That is what I used, the drop cloth frays a lot and the true measurements aren't correct then. Would recommend using a little more yardage for it. Make sense?
@k15333 жыл бұрын
I can't find the PDF for this tote. Can someone direct me. I looked in Etsy shop!

Did you cut the corners on the wrong side before you turned the corners up 4 inches?
@Sewspire5 жыл бұрын
Not for the exterior. Just the interior.
@Historical_Seamstress5 жыл бұрын
Love this Andrea! Quick question...did you pre-wash the fabric for this project? Do you ever pre-wash fabrics for projects?
@Sewspire5 жыл бұрын
Great question! I did not prewash these fabrics and would be nervous about washing that deep red as it may bleed.
@mary-lynnmcconnell56565 жыл бұрын
Stupid question...why do you use 3/8” seam allowance? I use 1/4” for everything 🤔
@iraizdiaz25795 жыл бұрын
I don't know if I missed it but, where did you get the fabric from?
@Sewspire5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking! I shopped all of the supplies for this project at Walmart.
