I've sewn for 45+ years and have never attempted anything with a zipper. Until today. I do not want to destroy my lovely & fun dress I've sewn. So after watching your tutorial (very straight forward and concise), I'm full of confidence! I'll tag you on my post after I'm done.

Thank-you sooo much for posting this video! I've been sewing for over 50 years and have always avoided invisible zippers. The Reader's Digest Complete Book of Sewing tells me it's impossible to put them in without and invisible zipper foot. The book is wrong! Your video was so helpful and easy to follow. I used my regular zipper foot and adjustable needle position, followed your very clear instructions, and got it on the first try! Thank-you again!!!! Lifesaver!!

I have tried following many invisible zipper tutorials and was not satisfied with the results. Yours is the easiest, simplest and shortest. Thank you very much

If anyone else is a self-taught beginner, you have to align the foot itself to the left or the right. I was trying to place the foot in the center like the universal foot and felt crazy when it wouldn't go in. Despite your clear instructions, I still had a pretty hard time with my zipper because I can't work out of the right groove at all. My needle alignment doesn't move the needle far enough. I had to work one side upside down and finish the bottom of the zipper hem by sewing in reverse. My machine is brand new, so I'm a little annoyed that it already needs to be serviced.

I’ve watched a few but this is the clearest, especially cos you used fabric with an obvious right/ wrong side. I have done ordinary zip inserts in the past but want to achieve this invisible look for a dress. I have made my notes. Will let you know how it goes!

@@WonderFilThreads I was happy with it. It’s not quite right but that’s user error not teaching error and I have learnt. Basically the teeth on my zip went all the way to the top of the tape. So hard to neaten off. I’ll buy a zip with a little spare tape next time!
@suze1958wilde3 жыл бұрын
But your video guided me well and the zip is concealed properly with using just a normal zipper foot. Thanks a million!

I am separating a dress as the top half is now 2 tight and using the bottom half as a skirt, the zipper was all intact till the zipper tag came off and now I have to install an invisible zipper, which I find daunting, but this tutorial made it look so easy. Thank you.

Helpful, thank you. I'm working my way through a beginner's sewing e-book and I'm trying to see if there's a way around creating the concealed zipper look on a skirt, rather than having to buy a concealed zipper foot x

Second time is a charm. I was recycling a zipper that didn't have stop brass at the top. The new zipper from the store had stops so the pull stays put. :-)
@acupcake903 жыл бұрын
You can hand sew the stoppers as well. Use whip stitch in one place till you get big enough chunk to use as stoppers. Also you can do this with bottom stopper to shorten the zipper.

thanks for this demonstration, it's very helpful, one question I have is, why do I need to switch back to the regular walking foot, couldn't I just finish the seem with the zipper foot for convenience? or will something go wrong if I do that?

Hi. Do you know how to hide the zipper, on the inside of the blouse, please? I have made a blouse with opening for zipper front, open ended, invisible. I haven't installed it yet, because I think with all my French seams and nice interior, the zipper will make the inside ugly. Do you know what I mean? Plus a raw zipper, on the skin. Please help, with ideas.

I think I did something wrong because the back of the zipper is on the right side of my fabric >.
@WonderFilThreads4 жыл бұрын
Oh no! Hope you were able to fix it! 😢
@AdmNaismith3 жыл бұрын
The zipper and fabric are placed face-to-face. Then, when you fold back the fabric, the pull is facing out with the right side of the fabric.
@jenniferellsworth12264 жыл бұрын
You'd have done well to warn us that the zipper pull falls off when you pull to close...back to the fabric store. 😣

The fabric edges touch, covering the teeth of the zip. But the seam is obviously still seen.
