I really love working with feathers. In 2013, I made a beautiful white crepe pantsuit using ostrich feathers for my trip to Maui. I wore it for a luau and it was a hit! I lined the bottom half of the top with the feathers, double layering it, and left the bell legged pants plan. Gorgeous!

I don't know if anyone has already commented this suggestion, but I'll bet that using thin paper on top of the feathers would help to keep them from flying into the needle's path -- then all you have to do when you're done is to gently pull the paper out of the stitching!

So I’ve tried to sew feathers on to that same fabric and two very bad things happened... 1. The glue to stick the feather on to the trim coated my needle and made it extremely hard to sew. 2 the weight of the feathers caused the fabric to curdle up into a wave motion. Any tips?

Greetings Lia I came here for the very same reason, looking for some insight- tried rubbing an oiled cotton swab on the needle at 6" intervals, which helped a bit- sewing 20 yds of Marabou Turkey Feathers, so I'm Done! I will be hand-sewing the next 14 rows- I did hear mention of biased taped - perhaps attaching it first with an overhang, then sewing (next time) as I have 3 Prom Gowns to get out between now & Friday! #designerlife 🌹 btw, I backed my thin fabric w/fusible interfacing to keep from crinkling #goodluck #ginavondee #designs

Are there different types of neoprene fabric or did I just get cheated? I ordered this fabric online but it was not as sturdy as your fabric. Your fabric looks really stiff and that is what I was looking for instead I got really loose fabric.

What do you do about getting a Sticky needle from the glue inside the trim?
@classicroyaltydesignsanita72944 жыл бұрын
Try your best so very slow or medium speed and every time you see a feather coming your way towards the needle move it out the way or get some alcohol rub it and continue to sew
