What a stitch savior! I hate patterns but I’m trying to incorporate them more. I’m in a “lvl 1” M8064 “pattern A” and the steps were stupid for attaching the collar. My brain couldn’t get it to not have a raw hem exposed with the way the photos presented. If you get to view this one please comment in the future so I know I’m not crazy. (sewing over a decade here)

Great video. How do you calculate how much over lap on the v part when measuring the neckline? Or how much xtra do you allow for the overlap? Thanks.

Excellent tutorial - thank you! Quick question … I want to take out the ribbing from some of my crewneck shirts, and change it into a deeper V-neck. I want the V-neck to be deeper than 2 inches so I will need to redo the entire neckline. I understand this means picking out all of the ribbing (or cutting it off right at the seam line) and I need to put new ribbing in. So here is the million dollar question: how long do I make the ribbing? Is there a specific way to measure that? I don’t want it to gap open or be too tight that it pulls the fabric up, but rather to lay flat against my neck line.

Do you put a top stitch on the body to hold the seam allowance down or just leave it ?

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. It’s up to you! It just depends on the fabric, the look I want, and the way I sewed it.
