I can never fully understand how ppl like you can automatically know where to put shadows 💚that’s a true gift
@cadieleigh63114 жыл бұрын
Well since I like to draw myself I cant really draw portraits but you can learn where to put the shadows since it is really up to you where to put them so you just imagine where you want the light source to be coming from like for example if the light source is coming from the left the left side of the face may be lit up more than the right side of the face so really you can learn where to add more tone than other places but maybe someone might just be able to do that naturally.
@RunIntoTheForest4 жыл бұрын
Nothing in artistry is a gift, if u draw so many shadowed art it will become so normal that you just know where everything goes. when people say practice makes perfect they mean it. Nothing comes free and nobody is born knowing how to draw shadows:)
@RunIntoTheForest4 жыл бұрын
And if ur still struggling with shadows look up a reference!! How are you supposed to learn how to draw something if you don't know what it looks like? I promise you that the most amazing portrait artists and artists in general use references.

An easier way to do it is to cover the whole face with a light, even layer of pencil/charcoal, then gradually add layers, blending along the way...that way u get multiple layers of blending tones For example, with the eyes/nose/cheekbones, it's not just 1 layer on top of another, it's about 10

@@ishar2129 glad I cud help 😁😊 I got loads of ideas from just watching how people draw (even james charles' video drawing demi lovato) so just do that and with practise, ur techniques will improve x I also found an affordable blending technique for people that don't want to buy the blending stumps, which is to use earbuds/q-tips...it's real good for adding/blending details! Just wonderful, I have been researching "drawing a pencil portrait" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Lonrooklyn Tenevi Plan - (search on google )? It is a good one of a kind product for learning how to draw pencil portraits quickly and easily in 7 days without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my mate got great results with it.

This is so beautiful. So many people ask for specific materials used, I do not understand the need for secrecy as if someone might steal all of the products you like. Pencils, brushes, erasers have brands and names, so why just say "general" when a beginner is looking for guidance? I understand that this is your channel and you can do what you'd like, but I wanted to share feedback as a beginner. I watch videos like this to improve and find new techniques/materials, and I'm sure that's what others are doing as well.
