The balancing stuff was interesting - would not have thought to check that. I also liked the practical tips about how to get the components back together right orientation

Thank you for the information on having the carburetor up when tipping a lawnmower. I have never balanced my blade. Will now!

Nice to find another Channel. IMHO you took off far more material from the blande than necessary. Start grinding on the inside , working to the outside. 2 passes is all it takes. Knife sharp is not required. Manual shows a 'square' edge of 1 mm or so. If you have concerns with balancing, clean the old debris off the blade first. If there is a lot of fuel in the tank, put a plastic bag under the cap and install. A lovely garage and tool set up Sean. Thanks. Nice to see the underside of the Commercial Mower. Not the same in Canada.

Hi Sean, I know you've been busy playing catch up with the mowing jobs after all this rain. Hoping you'd get the chance to pop up another video on this channel on a rainy day. Even just a maintenance/cleanup vid of one of the current machines? Cheers man.

Thank you Sean for the balancing tip. I do have a balancing tool but to be honest its a royal pain in the butt. Ill give the old punch tip a go next time the blades get sharpened. 👍🏻

Hi Sean, watch both your channels, love them both. I watched your previous video on Australian Restorer on the Torro with the service and draining the oil with that pump. I bought one the same to drain the oil out of my pressure washer, found it hard to get it to work then put my pressure washer up on the bench with the waste bottle on the ground and the bulb below the pressure washer, drained the oil out in less than a minute. Hope this helps.

Ha, tell me about it! Although from personal experience, overhead stick welding has left much worse burns under my clothes. On a similar, but side note, many hours spent on the range as a safety supervisor has led to countless pieces of hot brass ending up down my clothes haha (I still have a scar near my waist) It was difficult to avoid, as it was insisted upon that we supervise from the side in which the shooter holds the weapon, which also happens to be the side where the cartridge ejects. Go figure!

Personaly I would have taken the material from the back edge to make the balance - give a bit more life to the blade for skin flint me! Lets see how long it takes to grow this channel !

Sean maybe putting that spray on bedliner you can get at the auto parts store will help the bottom not getting all gummed up?

Did you use a solid grinding disk or flappy disk? I’ve seen on the YT that flappy disk seems to be the disk of choice.
@theaustralianrestorer62112 жыл бұрын
This is a grinding disk, but a flapper disk will do the same job. I prefer the grinder as it takes a bit more meat off with each pass, though it is easier to make a mistake.

Spray some traffic film remover and leave it for a minute and use a plastic putty/filling knife the gras will come off easy

Since this is more of the gear channel, any chance of a review of the battery powered gear now that you've run it in a bit? Would be interested in pros and cons (and model numbers haha).

Awesome work. Love the balancing tip. Just a couple of quick questions if that is ok as I will soone need to sharpen my own lawn blade. What disc did you have on your grinder? And what angle were you grinding at?
@theaustralianrestorer62112 жыл бұрын
I recommend using a flap disk, and I didnt work out an angle, I just did my best to maintain the original angle
