I just replaced the same 18 inch long pin on my Case 580 backhoe. Also has the same style and size thumb. It was a nightmare 2 day job getting everything aligned. You make it look way too easy. I finally used your welding trick to keep the pieces aligned. Really glad you approve of this method.

Why push the pin all the way out? Just push out enough to put shim in one side at a time.

Wouldn't the bushings have worn uneven has their was tilt to the bucket not just a side to side motion

Most likely the bucket or coupler wedge is worn. The bushings and pins last quite awhile with min wear as long as its greased. This was just taken the side to side play out

Whenever I do shims, I’ll do new bushing too that way everything is tight.
