You are great I just recently put a transmission in and bolted my PTO in and all the sudden the transmission was whining really loud everybody tried to tell me it was the bearing on the front of my input shaft but this is the problem thank you

pull the air shift cover off, you should have .006 to .012 backlash on the pto input gear where it meshes with the transmission gear. don't guess, use a dial indicator!

When you have the shims rite it will not whine but you set it by the gear lash with a dial indicator not the sound of it whining. Not trying too be a a-- just giving info.

it uses the oil from the transmission.

I have a question just installed one. It said thick measures .010. When torqued equals to .006 so I installed 2 thick’s and a thin and hear no noise do you think I put too many. And no there is no room to measure backslash

I bought a bucket truck, the PTO makes a sound most likely of whining clicking sound, but when the PTOs engaged it stops, but also has a high and low speed and when I use the bucket I noticed that the high-speed disappears, any thoughts? I’m thinking the gaskets also, definitely enjoyed the video

Installed a P.T.O pump combo well you can seperate them but after installing when I let the clutch out my truck wants to bogg and die and if I put it in gear it won't move I built this truck and its my first time working with p.t.o's and hydraulic system any advise

I've got a question no whining that I can hear untill you engage the pto but when I raise my bed it is really slow and doesn't want to go up at all I think it's the pump but could you please shed some light on this it's on a 99 ch613 Mack pulling an end dump

A couple thing to check. make sure the supply line isn't getting sucked in. Also check that the pump is engaging all the way (If it's cable actuated). last but not least check that the pressure relief valve is holding.

I also have a tow truck recently we've been having problems with their PTO engaging the cable is really stiff and hard to pull in and out to engage the PTO do you have any idea how to fix that kind of problem or what's wrong with it?

if it works on a cable, they dry out and get sticky it makes them hard to pull. does it go back out easy or hard as well. if hard then change the cable. but if it goes back easy, its a different issue.

most of those are compatible with most. however gear depth is different. check the bolt count to attach, then count the teeth for the same amount and distance. then last, measure the depth the gear sticks in, or out on the pto. you can shim the heck out of it if needed. thanks for watching.

Thanks a bunch. I am installing a set up and hope that I can pull a used unit I stored for 5 years in my shop off the shelf and back into service . I will count on sales reps for specs on whether or not what I have will accomplish what I need. The unit was an extra PTO drive that I recovered prior to selling a former similar transmission . Probably the same , but that would seem to good to be true.

regular gear oil. here is a number for tech info for your specific truck if you need. 1-800-237-8645 they can tell you every fluid and weight. i think it is a s1624, but i could be wrong. thanks for watching.

i am wrong, s1600 is correct for that year. i think you may have the 345. in my opinion the red diamond 345 was a fantastic work horse engine. i got one years ago that the engine was seized, we pulled started it for over a hour in 4th gear just dragging it along until finally BAM she fired back up. very strong engine. i drove that truck for years until i sold it and it was running strong. enjoy her for years to come. thanks again for watching.

Thank you for your reply! Another quick question. When I was cleaning out the transmission to bolt the pto on, I found a round metal clip or spacer of some sort. It was down in the fluid. Its about 5" diameter and about a 16th of an inch thick and about 1/8" wide. Its in 3 pcs. Any ideas? Also do you know where I can get a blow up print of the transmission?

only thing i can think of is the ring plate that holds the back side of front bearing. because the rear would be much smaller. do you have a lot of vibration , i would think at least some. check chiltons manual. i would think. if you have a mirror of some sort you could prob see that it is missing through the pto assemble . my guess is it is. thanks!!
