So you're looking to stretch the legs on your new long range rifle/ scope setup? Stick around and check out this video as I provide a step by step look at the process I use when stretching the legs on a new precision rifle. We take an in depth look at the zeroing process, capturing bullet velocity, entering the critical information into your ballstic app and then using that app to provide a firing solution to take a shot at long range. I believe this video will provide value to both experienced long range shooters as well as those of you new to the sport. Let me know what you think!

Protect this channel at all costs. This is by far the most educational long distance shooting channel I’ve ever seen. Because of your in depth details with POV scope cam helped me with my purchase of my tremor 3 reticle! I think a great new video/series would be of your reloading process if that would be possible?

Hey man, really appreciate you taking the time to watch and support the channel! My goal is to consistently put out entertaining content that also provides some kind of value to the viewer. Hope you'll stick around for future videos and share my channel with your friends when you get a chance! Regarding the tremor 3, you're going to love it. I remember I was initially nervous about going to a "christmas tree" style reticle but now that I've made the swap I'm not going back haha. A reloading video is on my to do list but it'll be down the road. For the immediate future I want to focus on shooting related content as that's what seems to be working. Given I'm still relatively new my focus now is just extending the reach of the channel and winning over more fans.

I consider myself to be an intermediate level shooter both with regards to my knowledge and my level of skill. Most videos that I watch are a review, as far as the mechanics of shooting go. this is the first video that I have watched that explains why the parallax adjustment is called the parallax adjustment and how that actually relates to parallax. I have always just thought about it as the "focus" knob. This gave me the knowledge necessary to evaluate whether my parallax is adjusted correctly, which has always been a struggle due to my astigmatism. That has probably caused more than a few "flyers" as moving my head position might have caused a shift in point of aim /impact. Thanks! You've earned a new subscriber.

I use the same tactics and process. My builds take me alittle more time. Load developement and barrel break-in. Ballistic calculator and solid data is key. Chrono seals the deal.
@silvermediastudio
@silvermediastudio 8 ай бұрын
Barrel "break-in" as it was traditionally done (shoot one, clean, shoot five clean, shoot ten clean, whatever) has mostly been determined as pointless, if you are using modern custom barrels. The burrs and tool marks that were so common in the past just aren't an issue any more with modern manufacturing, be it button or hammer forged. What is critical is that you clean the bore of any manufacturing oils, protect the bore with a very light coat of lubricant (Ballistol, CLP, or any of the dozens of Gucci products you prefer), and then establish copper equilibrium. This is accomplished by shooting your intended bullet and tracking velocity, it will start slow then speed up and then level off. That leveling off point tells you that the bullets have deposited a layer of copper into the bore and for the next 800-2000+ rounds (depending on what you're shooting) you should expect very consistent velocities if you continue to use the same load and don't clean it so hard that you remove the desirable copper fouling. When you see a drop-off in velocity, it is an indicator that the barrel is approaching end of life (typically from throat erosion).

Those factory fresh barrels might still have microscopic burrs in them- probably why your ballistics seemed to change over the course of fire. Might be worthwhile to 'mag dump' a bit cheaper ammo for the first 30 rounds to polish it out a bit. That being said, you were still getting very good results for first rounds fired. I would only expect it to improve as the gun settles in and you get familiar with it- very well done! I've had some friends rag on Riton (gear snobs are going to gear-snob), but I'm glad to see it seems very serviceable and functional for pushing out. Appreciate your vids!

Pretty consistent 3/8 groups on 100 yards. Still working on loads to try and get 1/4 groups since it’s my Competition Rifle.

Excellent video! I spent all last summer dialing in a load that I wanted to feel good about so I could go out to 1000 yds with my savage elite percision 6.5cm . I think I was way to picky and should have just went an had fun at the long range. I sure went through a pile of ammo!!! My group is under a dime at 100. Can't wait to try it out to 1000
@MountainsMulletsMerica

Man I know how you feel…. Anymore if I’m able to shoot 1 moa I’m happy. That’s plenty accurate for the type shooting I do and it’s way more beneficial to spend your time shooting at distance vs trying to squeeze out tiny groups at 100 yds. I’ve spent a ton of time and money through the years chasing tiny groups and it always leads to frustration haha

Sounds like you’ve got a pretty versatile rifle on your hands! I haven’t had a chance to play around with 7mm yet but I know it’s a great round for both hunting and long range target work. I’ve been thinking about putting together some more how to videos and scopes are something on my list to cover.

I strongly recommend doing a tall target test at 100m to verify your level and to determine how much your turret actually dials before attempting long range. For example you might dial 10mil but then hit at 9.5mil at 100m. In this example the turret is tracking 5% low. Any good ballistic app will allow you to input the amount that your turret actually tracks and correct your dial amount accordingly. If you do not do this step you could end up thinking the problem is your BC or your MV and you will start chasing your tail. Plenty of videos out there showing how to properly conduct tall target tests.
