Thanks. I needed it this as I do not like microwave corn as much as boiling. Thanks again Edit . I just tried this and it is very easy with one exception . It does leave behind some of the silk hairs but the amount that it leaves is not that much and I just brush it off underwater with a small soft brush. It's well worth it and I'm done microwaving corn. My fresh picked corn is in a pot right now .

The MV method is only good if ur eating the corn immediately. His way you can store the corn in the fridge, etc. for later.
@wholeNwon
@wholeNwon 6 ай бұрын
@@RedEye3 Actually, I store the shucked ears in the fridge for up to a couple of weeks in plastic bags so they don't dehydrate much. I take out an ear or more when needed, put them in a suitable safe container with just a little water and nuke them in the microwave. Turn out very well. Better than boiling where a lot of flavor is lost in the water.

I never had much experience with shucking corn, but recently I was given 3 of them to throw out o the deer. They wouldn’t eat them unshucked, so I decided to remove the husks. That’s when I realized how incredible a job Mother Nature has done to protect the ear inside. I must have peeled off 8 layers to get to it.
@manthonychavez
@manthonychavez 8 жыл бұрын
Great video, best one I've seen (99% are microwave method). I use the same method, slightly modified 1. Peel off a thin strip of husk, like 30 degrees of the 360 degrees of the cob's circumference. 2. Hold the corn in your non-dominant hand, using your dominant hand wrap your fingers+nails around the remaining husk and pull all ther remaining leaves and silks.
@manthonychavez
@manthonychavez 8 жыл бұрын
The difference is that the two-step method allows better support for the shucking the whole time but is two steps. Your method gives less support, but allows both hands to peel at the same time. I think increasing the support+leverage is key, I think your method would work even better if you held the corn on a table/counter and were sitting down.

I enjoyed your video. Sometimes if the corn has a long shank you can break off the shank closer to the cob, and this removes much of the husks in the process, shortening the work. With some breeds of corn you can remove all the husks by breaking off the shank right at the butt of the cob.

Or….put an un-chucked ear of corn in a microwave for 4 minutes (times each ear, 3 ears = 12 minutes ) cut off the stalk end with Serrated knife and squeeze the ear of corn out. Quick, clean, easy and perfectly cooked. No silk (HOT be careful). Been doing it like this all summer.

@wholeNwon
@wholeNwon 6 ай бұрын
Take a little more than the stalk so that you've cut into the base of the cob, then just shake it by the tassel end and all the husk and silk will stay put and the cob with corn and no silk will slide out. In my microwave it takes up to 6 min, if the corn is cold.
