Nice work mate, I have always done it this way as I have never owned a wet/dry vacuum. It takes a bit longer but works a treat :) Cant wait to see the new scape

@@CTTH100 im late but its possible the soil ran out of nutrients and he wanted to make a new layout, these tanks can run for a few years at most

The main reason is to cut down on electricity. Prices here in the UK are ridiculous at the minute. I've had to make some sacrifices to help cover heating costs over the winter months. I'll have to make do without this, my biggest tank, til after the winter.

@Gregof09 nets end up ripped to bits from catching them on the wood, and once wood is lifted, the tank is full of dirt. Fish hide when it's heavily planted, making it a nightmare to catch them. Fair point though with the stress as obviously that's the last thing I want with the fish.

Catching fish in a heavily planted tank is much easier said than done. You may be able to get a few but ultimately you will need to remove plants and hardscape to get them all.
