What timing, I checked the channel to see if anything new was up and I caught this video just 39 seconds after you posted it. Glad to see the Glenfield 65 and the screwdriver set both arrived okay. I enjoy this channel so much I decided to send you this rifle for all your subscribers to enjoy. I felt it would be a good addition to all of the recent Marlin/Glenfield videos. I hope the screwdriver set is a help to you on your many tasks and projects. Just my way of giving a little something back to the channel I enjoy so much.

My dad, who had fought the Japanese on Attu, had an old Remington 552, and had devised a simple procedure to zero it with a single shot. First, he set up a solid white target at the selected distance. Then, he secured the rifle with clamps to a solid picnic table he had built. Then he fired one shot into the target and adjusted sights and scopes to that one strike. Our target practice was from that table, or the kitchen table out the back door. The targets from the kitchen were clothes pins on the line. Per Mom, we were not allowed to aim at the clothes line itself. We never cut it, and learned not to miss a clothes pin.

I used a piece of masking tape across the barrel in front of the point of the rear sight and drew a pencil line strait from the point outward, toward the muzzle end to gauge how much I drifted the sight. It's not always necessary but it helps see the amount of drift.

If you can find a taller front sight to fit your gun, that would probably be the ticket. Also make sure the barrel isn't bent upwards. If it is, don't worry because have straightened barrels in the past, and those guns shoot very well. Thanks for the nice comments. Happy Holidays.

If you can take the mag tube apart you can put a piece of solid brass rod in the spring equsl in lenght of the number of rounds you cannot have this has to sit on the top of the follower and prevents the mag tube being secured if you try to put more rounds in than allowed.

Quick question not related to the video... Are groundhogs good to eat? Ive never had any on my property until just the last year and now ive seen several. They are mostly in the back if the property and not causing any damage around the house like ive heard they'll do, so i havent shot em. If they make good table fair i just might take a couple. I assume they are kinda like squirrel or rabbit but dont know for sure. If i start seeing too many ill cull em back. I just prefer to do something useful with the carcus of any animal i kill. Except for possums and armadillos! Yuck! I want nothing to do with any part of those nasty critters! LOL
@CumberlandOutdoorsman

I have heard of folks cooking and eating ground hogs. Actually if you think about it, there's no reason not to consume the meat because they feed on vegetation. I heard they are a bit on the greasy side.

BETTER TO MOVE THE BACK SIGHT WITH A BRASS DRIFT PIN AND A HAMMER.
@CumberlandOutdoorsman
@CumberlandOutdoorsman Жыл бұрын
That will work as well because brass is softer than steel. Only problem is you need a way of holding your rifle while doing it this way because you will need both hands to hold the drift pin and hammer. That's why I use a soft mallet. There are also brass mallets available.
