When I apply silicone, I cut the nozzle tip at 90 degrees, bring the gun the same 90 degrees to the tile and move slowly. As a result I always get a nice triangular shaped bead. No tooling needed. No soapy water. Just move the tip slow, keep the angle and you’ll be fine. And… no finger needed for shaping the bead.

I put plumbers tape on all threads regardless if there's a rubber gasket or not because I'm chaotic like that

Always helpful to have some clean cardboard or kitchen paper towel in a pinch . to have place to wipe silicone off your finger

Remember that when you use tape, remove it immediately (as he did). Do not let the silicone set up with the tape in place. For those worried about a @ridge” being formed by the tape edge- don’t be! It’s only as thick as the tape and creates a nice firm edge.

I think in the places like that shower pipe for DIY it is better to use some kind of anaerobic pipe thread sealant

Sometimes the shower head gasket gets pushed into the arm and becomes useless. Putting tape is the way to go in that case

On that Moen valve, because it turns 360 degrees, you have to make sure that when you install the shut off handle that it is in the correct position- if it is not, when you turn on the water the hot hit and cold will be reversed- the easy solution is pull off the handle and stop and spin it 180 degrees - it’s a very easy mistake to make

I have a 20 amp line yellow installed and Im short 25 ft to the panel and I have grey 12/2uf left over can I take the to take that from the plug to the panel its the same amp and volt just made for out side would this be an issue

How do you prevent ridges on the caulk bead when you pull the tape up? It looks like you have a ridge on the caulk bead on the shelf.

The silicone radius needs to be smaller than the tape gap. I had the same problem when I didn't make sure I wiped enough out 😅

What grout sealer do you recommend? I was about to silicon ALL of my grout lines in the shower, but apparently that is not correct.. Did I miss the video where you sealed the grout lines? Thank you!

any water based sealer with an applicator brush is fine. just get what is on the shelf at the local building store. Cheers!

If the building settles and walls move , then the corners will crack. My shower corner grout fell out after 5 years unfortunately.

You need to tighten the shower head up a bit as it is leaking. Or you tightened it too much and cracked the cheap plastic.

You did not silicone around the gasket against the tile....! Hmn.

no need. the gasket keeps the water out and the schluter trim keeps any drips from getting behind the tile. if your flange rests on a grout line then caulk that for sure. Cheers!

in the last 25 years, I have never used silicone in my corners and I was just at one of my shower installs from like 2000 and no cracks in the grout.
