Wow. For years I've had a weak voice and never thought it was very good. I just made 6 videos (starting with how I usually sing) going through and combining each step, and the change is AMAZING! In 20 minutes I went from thinking I'd never have a good voice to having hope I might be a decent singer some day with more coaching and practice. Thank you so much!!

Just wide enough so that you are no longer mumbling. You should be able to hear an instant difference to the quality of your sound. Of course you don't want to open your mouth so wide that it becomes uncomfortable but it will take a bit of practice to get your mouth moving properly to begin with.

I am very new to singing lead ( It was sort of thrown on me, when our singer didn't show for a gig). I so appreciate your advice, I have a long way to go, but the rest of the band voted to NOT seek another singer, and cast me in the role. I owe this in large part to YOU !

Hi, I can't sing at all. I have no idea if I'm alto or soprano, but I can't sing super high notes or low notes. Also, I can stay in tune but when I sing softly I sound odd but when I belt it out I sound like a man. I can't afford to have singing lessons and I've watched many singing videos and none of them improve my voice. I watched yours and i tried to do all of these steps and failed. Please help!
@nayahughes4318

Start making sure you don't sing false, start of softly then begin even louder. Don't try to sound like anything but yourself. Practice everyday softly and you will get there❤️

Hi India, the first step to improving your singing is to develop your breathing. Building a beautiful voice is a series of stepping stones and you need to start with the right one. Try watching this video first: singerssecret.com/how-to-breathe-for-singing/

Not evrybody was meant to sing anyway. Every body has their own talent and yours may probably be something else like dancing, rapping, sports, etc.... So I advice you try and find what YOUR talent is and not force yourself into a talent because then you may not like the result.
@MrsWackyJaqi
@MrsWackyJaqi 9 жыл бұрын
Lorriel Parizz Yikes. Talent is developed, not born with. It's not like Celine Dion can sing ever since she was a baby, she has her own vocal coach. No one cares if you can sing, what's more important is that you WANT to sing. That's the purpose, you have to work hard for it. 'Talent' is not easy. Everybody doesn't have 'their own' talent. We're born nothing.

When it came to me sounding better I started singing vowel sounds rather than speak-singing. Before I tried to sing the way I spoke, but singing properly requires more space at the back of the mouth so I started singing "sounds" rather than singing words. This breakthrough happened when I saw sheet music from a student on the piano and above the lyrics the tutor had penciled in vowel sounds like "Oh" "Ooo "Ahh" and "Lay" etc Also, learning about "vocal retraction" helped me to sing with a good vocal onset.

These were really good tips! I'm a terrible singer and I've always wanted to sing better...even just for when I sing at home, or go to karaoke. I'm looking forward to trying these tips. Any song recommendations for someone for a deep/low range to try? Btw, do you mind if I ask where you're from?

Origami Kiwi The tips will work for a low voice as well. From a performance perspective, using a microphone is the best way to bring out the midtones in a low voice. I have a low jazz-type voice and I sound completely different with a mic. Just make sure the low levels are turned down and the mids are up. I'm from Australia (Perth)

I admire your reasoning and encouragement to be our own, unique vocal self. It's a timely reminder, even for us life long singers. However, that belief seems to be in conflict with "Cassidy" sounds sounds "better" than Sting singing Fields of Gold. You prompted me to listen. Comparing art, apples vs oranges, tomato/tomahto is futile. Ms. Cassidy's version is haunting, enchanting; Sting's version is also haunting. They each tap into a mood, feeling...a desire to reflect. "Better" is a word I endeavor to use sparingly..."different" is a good replacement. Thanks for turning me on to the Cassidy version, it's added to my favorites...along with Sting's.

If you teach me how to sing I'll teach you how to record! The sound quality of this video is very poor, fuzz, poorly miced, bad slapback. Lets teach each other things!
@Singersstory

I recorded this a good few years ago when I had nothing but a shitty $100 camera. So yes, the sound is crap but it was either that or don't post. I posted and the video has done well. Its not always about having the best equipment, its about getting content out there and improving from there. Thanks for commenting though :)

What you said about the power note made me think of sing as like a band I'm not going to always be the person that plays the main way to play the song (lol even though I'm a trumpet. You taught to make the song beautiful in my own way and always stay in your octave
