Hi Paul! The audio is excellent. I haven´t been training lately having been run over by the "Flu". It´s so frustrating to lose all you have gained in only a few days. But I`ve made it over the hill and looking forward very much to getting back on the floor and the rings again!

Great thanks it’s tricky to video outside es when it’s windy. Hope you’re back to 100% soon and I’m sure your strength will come back with time

Sound is good. Better than a mic pinned to your shirt that goes loud and soft as you move your head.

This is exactly what I was looking for - I'm working on skinning the cat w/ straight legs w/the 360 pull as my ultimate goal. I have the initial rotation (the concentric, I think) into the german hang w/ straight legs, but need to bend my knees to go back over again, I feel I might be bending my arms too, I'll have to film myself to make sure. I don't have my own rings atm - I use them at the place I train muay thai, I'll keep in mind what you said about pulling and leading with the heel next time I'm on the rings. I feel I lack strength to pull back over in that position but I don't understand the movement well enough to know what muscles are important or how I would strengthen that . I'm assuming also that the full 360 pull requires isometric moves like the front lever since it involves getting your body into that position?

Yes that sounds about right with what you’re doing. I’d definitely try and video yourself from the side as it’s much easier to self assess that way. Watch the elbows bending and hip closing on the harder bits. You don’t necessarily need static positions as it’s easier dynamic (passing through them for a split second) but I would recommend training some easier positions in static holds

Nice video. I can do 5 to 6 reps of skin the cat with knees tucked quite comfortably and do these as a warm up in the gym. Ideally, I want to get them like yours with legs completely straight. I will try to Tuck my knees further away from my body as you have said. However, do you think I would be better of training to having a good Toes To Bar which would enable me to do the Skin the Cat with straight legs as that's my issue. Getting through the gap with straight legs and not a Tuck. I think that's a bit easier for me to work towards. I haven't trained any front lever type holds and get the impression that being able to have some sort of front lever training would've benefit the really advanced Skin the Cat you have shown in the video that seems to incorporate back lever and front lever element.

Thanks! Toes to Bar is a great movement but it doesn't really carry over to the Skin The Cat as hip closes and the shoulder angle doesn't change. A front lever pull would be a closer movement, however I would just stick with the Skin The Cat and open up the tuck to a more advanced position, as this would carry over to multiple movements like you say Front/Back Lever

Quality vid, and that final flow was great! Possibly a dumb question but whenever I go into a back lever I instantly lose my false grip, do I just need a stronger grip or is there some kind of a knack I don't know about?
@PaulTwyman2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don’t use a false grip in a back lever. It demands so much flexibility I. The shoulders, forearms and wrists. I’d definitely slip as well
