Well Rob, you've done it again. This video was honestly amazing and I loved all the little skits that you guys organized in the background. I remember in your first slap video you guys were so excited that you finally got a good take you can use... as a hobby guitar player, I can relate to that feeling. Interesting, I've been playing bass for awhile but learned after guitar so haven't really had any direction on technique. I slap very differently to you but it still works for me. I tend to hit the string as closer to a 90 degree angle to the bass and then pull my thumb away quickly. I can still play fast slapping like the intro to higher ground by the peppers so it's not really an issue but I thought it was an interesting note in case people find it easier that the way Rob described. The only difference if that with my technique you need to mute the other strings with your left hand as they won't be muted with your right
@Stoffen2242 жыл бұрын
I do the same thing. I learned from a video where they described the technical differences between Claypool's slap and Flea's slap, and the main difference is the angle of the hand and thumb

The song gives me a Primus vibe 100%. Rob moving on to Bass now? Nice to see more guitar players moving on to bass. I mean I could walk across my street and shake a tree and a guitar player will fall from it. My neighbor was a guitar player to the end, until I brought my bass over to his house one day for him to give it a listen. A few weeks later he went out and purchased a bass, which he now plays more then his guitars. I too am guilty from starting off with a guitar for awhile, until I tried a bass, and now I have a lot more hours on a bass then I did when I played a guitar. Bass guitars are just much more fun to play when you can get percussions sounds off a string instrument as well as chords, so they are like two instruments in one.
