Hey Robbie - just got home from learning (sketchy) fs slappy 50s and I wanted to thank you for something you said in this vid… “you gotta let the curb lift you up.” That really unlocked it for me. It was incredibly weird just riding straight into the curb without ollieing, but I kept repeating your advice in my head until I started to get it. Thank you, brother! 😄

I could do them a few years ago, and I am pretty confident on bs 5050 even though I am not great at them. The keeping your feet parallel really opened a door for me on your backside 5050 tutorial. I can't buck up to Frontside again after a couple surgeries, it's coming though. I've never really even fallen on them when I could them before. You're humble, honestly was impressed by your skating! Keep these going! FS krook and feebles seem so weird to me but I so want to learn them. Frontside is always strange to me but once I actually go for it I realize how easy they are to get into once I actually commit. It's way easier to stay in control too versus backside 5050 where its harder to lock in and stay in the grind for long. Peace!

Man thank you so much for the kind words! I really do appreciate it. The feet more parallel seem to just help a lot with both FS and BS. Seems much easier to dig into either your heels or toes that way. I’m sorry to hear about the surgeries and I hope you get that confidence back!!

Hey, that is interesting! I also need a little more weight on my back foot on bs50/50 slappys. And yes, those willie grinds are nerve wracking! I really need to focus on holding the pressure ether on the toes at bs or at the heels for fs 50s. If I lose the pressure too early, the result is a willie grind, fs or bs. Have a great one and keep up the slappucation 😊

Dude I’m just tryna learn slappies. They are so sick. Tried some bs got really close. Watched both ur tutorials and wanna get back out there. Had the feeble of doom on bs so gonna try your cool foot position. This fs tutorial is so good. For frontside I always am front truck heavy, end up doing a revert off the nose towards the curb. Wierd so I’m gonna try leaning further back, lighter and get up on that curb.

This was super helpful man - thanks! Any advice on getting off halfway down the curb? I always sketch out on the landing for some reason, probably because I’d prefer my foot to be more on the tail

Hey Robbie, You are rad curb skater! I have become obsessed with curbs, and i want to up my skills or lack of skill. I subscribed as a gold member on your KZbin. I was hoping maybe I could get help with my fs 50 slappys like how to get them consistent, how to pop out of them, how to get more on top of the curb😅 I posted a vid on my insta. Thanks

my biggest issue with consistency with slappies is decades of needing to keep my back foot ready to pop something. my brain and body have a hard time processing the fact that I'm not popping. getting there, though.

Man I feel you on that big time. I quit skating for about 12 years and came back in the middle of 2020. Didn’t know anything about slappys and saw someone do a slappy crook…when I saw that it blew my mind and I had to figure them out. Took a long while to dissect other people’s Instagram vids and then play with each trick enough to figure it all out. You’ll get it man. Repetition will get you right.
@Drghoulie Жыл бұрын
I have a few different setups do you think traditional shaped wheels or square shaped wheels would help more with slappys?
@eastcoastcurbkiller Жыл бұрын
It’s tough because a wheel with a rounded edge glides up the curb easier but a wheel with a more square edge locks in better. The bones v1 shape seems to have a good mix of both. So does the spitfire conical (not the conical full)
@Drghoulie Жыл бұрын
@@eastcoastcurbkiller I might need to try those, I have spitfire tablets, classics and I have a pair of those dragon wheels from bones. Last time I tried fs 50/50 slappy I was either getting into a Willy grind or actually riding up over the curb
