Nice video, quite helpful. Is that sleeving a special one so that when it melts it acts like a heat-shrink, contracting and stickting, or does all PET sleeving do that?

Very nice technique...but doing this for PSU's is still very time consuming.

Sure is! that's why these cables cost so much to buy... not hard to to do just very time consuming. What I always tell customers ; )

@@thefrozencpu Does FrozenCPU sell premade cables for various PSUs like CableMod? I'm actually about to do a new AM5 build and am almost there with the parts list. My PSU is the EVGA 1300w Gold G2 Modular PSU. Seeing how good your sleeving technique is, I'd be interested in buying cables for it.

@@GSP-76 No we don't anymore. We used to and still have a few sets on sale for some older PSUs, but nothing modern sorry! Which cables were you looking to get done? Just the 24 pin and PCIe?

How hot is the tool? Maybe I could use a soldering iron or something
@thefrozencpu Жыл бұрын
You could, having the tool be thin like a knife is key though. i'm sure you could make an iron work. The rope cutter does get semi red hot though. Not sure exact temp.

@@thefrozencpu ok I have some white fiberglass sleeves so can you tell me which black color should I use to turn it permanently black and it's never fade again.
@thefrozencpu2 жыл бұрын
@@Ironman-BB Fiberglass is a little bit different. You cannot sleeve with it in the normal fashion because it does not expand or contract. All sleeving does fade a little over time, especially left in light but generally black is pretty good about it.

Hot Knife works great. We just started using one to cut PET . We have to cover 5 lead wires of a wire harness. To feed the wire through the PET I found that a dispensing nozzle tip with a small tapered tip works good. I cut the nozzle down to 2 inches long. It just long enough so that the PET will slide over it without getting hung up at it's max diameter. Then just slide the lead wires into the larger opening of the nozzle tip. The tip is small enough to easily slide into the PET sleeving. Then just push the tip all the way through the PET until the wires come out too. I also cut my sleeving to the desired length prior to installing the wires. You could probably use the nozzle tip for your single leadwire. I still have to do the "Inchworm" technique. just cut it to length and diameter you need. This is the nozzle tip I used www.mcmaster.com/7579A33/
