I'd argue that, even in a budget build, this $30 mod is difficult to pass up.

I have that exact kit, same colour and everything. It's worked well for me. I'm very pleased with how they both look and perform. I think it's wrong to infer that these are for low end PC's.. They are made well, with materials good enough for any system outside of industrial server environments. I have a high end system but I just can't justify to myself spending silly money on simple cables, the wire gauge is plenty enough to attach to my AX1600i and overclocked components. They're all just sleeved copper wire at the end of the day.

I have this kit in the black, grey and white! Definitely looks and feels premium for the price. My psu is the Asus Rog Strix 750w 80+ gold which has some pretty nice stock cables but the the color combo makes your build look amazing without having to pay a premium. Ended up putting that extra money towards other things in my build. Well worth it! Awesome video too!

I have the Asia Horse cable extension kit also in black/grey. Even though I already had all black cables from my EVGA psu, the cable extensions just take the look to the next level. The beauty of these, and many other kits in this price range, is that when used correctly, they can often look nicer than some of the more expensive competitors. I have been using these, asiahorse, uphere, and linkup for over a year now in over 40 builds for the charity. I haven't had a single failure, they look/feel great, and they are easy enough on the budget to justify getting multiple kits to have in case you wish to change color schemes.

These cheap cables are very good quality though so thumbs up. Btw they sell extra cable combs for 5 bux i used 2 of the 4 24 pin connector combs and modified 2 of them to work and hold both 8 pin and 6 pin cable on my rtx card and worked perfect.

I used extensions for the 1st time on my new build in a Lian Li 011D Evo, bright yellow ones that really stood out in the black case and adequate room in the power supply chamber for cable management. Still, it was a lot of cables crammed in there and I ended up taking the extensions out and just going with the black PSU cables which blended in with the case. I used those U-shaped adaptors for the GPU which worked great at cutting down on cable clutter.

If you're willing to wait a bit longer, you can get some custom extensions off AliExpress for around the same price. Or if you order around one of their holidays, even cheaper. I think I paid $22 and went with a dark blue plus lighter blue pattern and you get 8-pin EPS, 6+8 PCIe, and 24-pin ATX, but you can also customize if you need just 6 or 8 or if you need 8+8 PCIe. Same quality as the Asia Horse or Easy DIY off Amazon.

When I had my FX-8320 + R9 290 build, it was a black and red theme, so I have a set still in storage. When I went with RGB for my current rig, I decided to go with just black. Although early last month, and maybe it was a good call, I decided to throw my 9 y/o niece a rig together--mix of new and old. It was her first PC. Honestly, she doesn't play demanding games (mostly Injustice Gods Among Us and Burnout Paradise Remastered)...but also, with the coronavirus, she's now being home schooled and has access to a lot of resources. The whole theme of her build was black, white and purple. So she has my old R9 290 and FX-8320, 990FXA-UD3, 16GB DDR3, 750W PSU, Crucial MX500 1TB--wrapped in a Phanteks P300 in white with the EZDIY-FAB black and purple cable extensions. She also has RGB fans by EZDIY-Fab, their RGB heat spreaders, and a Wraith Prism RGB (was unused, I tossed it aside when I got my 2700X, in favour of an AiO)--RGB set to purple. Which, although it's not for the faint of heart, it might be worth covering EZDIY-Fab's RGB heat spreaders. You can get addressable, and non-addressable. I purchased Vengeance LPX in 2018 rather than RGB just because non-RGB was a lot cheaper over here in the UK back then--decided later that I wanted RGB. The difference is rather minuscule now. The addressable ones come with an adapter for Gigabyte's VDG connector, which conveniently plugs into Corsair's Lighting Node Pro...so they're sync'd with my fans, LED strips, and AiO.

It's the outer paracord sleeve, which is a type of nylon. Paracord is great for many things, but the downside here is that you have to heat shrink every end and of course take the time to sleeve every wire. If you want one color, buying paracord and doing it yourself may be cheaper. If you want more than one color, you'd be better off buying extensions.

If you want to stay on a budget and don’t feel like hassling with these extensions then what I would actually recommend is using fans that have one color LEDs because you can use ketchup and mustard colors and they are guaranteed to be a much lower price. If you look at the prices of fans then the cheapest ones are like the ones from the early 00’s that look like ketchup and mustard even though they were more expensive when they were made. This is because they made too much and now that the craze of fully transparent plastic and one color LEDs are out of fashion they are extremely great for getting good performance on a budget build. I mean you buy 5-6 fans for $20 and you end up with something that looks slightly more expensive. They key here is aesthetic, as Lo-Fi is becoming increasingly popular. Imagine a sleeper PC with 00’s aesthetic, now that’s style. Do you have a cheap case with acrylic? Paint the window with ketchup and mustard! Do you have a stock cpu cooler? Paint it with mustard and ketchup! How about those pesky USB ports? Paint it with mayonnaise! Pretty soon you’ll be gettin’ the vibe. Just remember, if it looks like trash then it must be trash, so make a trash PC for aesthetic. You know, like how they played trash cans in the 90’s as part of music pieces. Because why not, Just go with it!

Greg, riddle me this. I bought custom full length cables for my evga g3 850w from cablemod. About midway through they are connected to gether with some heatshrink wrap(I assume to connect the cables together). If I disassemble those and create new ends to the front half(aka the ones that connect to the mobo and gpu), I should be able to buy the bequiet 1000w psu and use them as extensions because all extensions are the same, correct? If so, I'll use your affiliate link as I was already going to buy that psu anyway.

If you dont use a full tower, you dont need extensions, maybe fan extension, but very rare.

Are these safe to use? Any long term users of these extension sleeves here?

Bought a Bitfenix Fury, cables come already sleeved. The sleeves lasted 3 years and then crumbled on my fingers when I was giving my baby her usual maintenance. Will this happen to cablemod sleeves? I do not recommend sleeved PSUs or any that aren't at hardware forums lists.

Hi, I was hoping if someone could help me. I have a 8 and 6 pin cable extender GPU question that I had recently bought. I have a 1070 Ti video card that has an 8 pin with a 6 pin port. However because of the tight fit of the mini-ITX case, the door is unable to shut because the connectors (the one that came with the PSU) are way to stiff for the door to shut. They stick out preventing the door from closing. And so I'm using the 8 pin and 6 pin extender which are very very flexible. The door closes and the build is finished. However I do have one major concern, since one of the 1070 Ti has a 6 pin port, is it safe to plug the PSU Y-Splitter 8 pin cord directly into the cable extender (8 pin port) THEN connect the other side *which is a 6+2 pin connector, of which I am only using 6 pins* into the 1070 port? Or do I need to REMOVE the 2 pins connecting from the PSU cord that goes into the extender which matches the 6 pin port that is on the 1070? Thanks for any help.

I have a hard time imagining someone with a super budget PC build spending $30 on something that won't improve performance in the slightest. At that budget range every dollar counts and these are just dollars wasted.

I would imagine it would appeal to the same people that want a system with RGB lights, where image is probably as importance as performance. For $30 USD, it does improve the looks.

Well, I think this build was used for representation purpose only. Tbh, yes someone spending around $300 wouldn't bother with a $30 cable extension kit because for that you might just buy a better psu that comes with flat black cables and more warranty or if you are satisfied with your psu (most people at this budget don't really care that much about psu, as long as it's from a reputable brand and has 80+) you can buy a better gpu or add extra storage. But someone with a $800-$1000 build might. Buy a cheap pack of rgb fans and through in a $30 cable extension, will make it look significantly pretty, and it's like only 3% of the total cost.

Honestly I’m on a budget but if ur a neat freak like me and want a cheap good looking PC I would spend the extra $30 for this...
