WooHoo! That's awesome! I can't wait for part 3 where we get to see you show us how it works the correct way.

I'm so happy you got this sorted. I had the same issue when working on mine (I think mines because I'm trying to cut metric on an imperial leadscrew). I'm definitely going to try this method out.

That's looks wonderful, congratulations!. You said you figured out the right half of the threading chart? I hope you will share the answer, those numbers made no sense.

To disengage or not to disengage the half nut?, that is the question! Is your lead screw metric or imperial? If you're cutting metric threads with a metric lead screw you can disengage the half nuts. Same for cutting inch threads with an imperial lead screw. Otherwise keep the half nut engaged.

It’s a Metric lead screw. Right now I’m doing it over and over to learn the characteristics of the lathe. Got it figured out but need more practice! Thanks!

Cutting metric threads with a metric lead screw you can disengage the half nuts ONLY if you have selected the correct gear for the chasing dial because the "wonderful" metric system threads are not even fractions of the lead screw. Imperial dials have only 1 gear and that is all they need.
