Keep doing what you are doing. BTW do you have a spare welding lens you could put in front of the camera so we can see the bead and puddle the way you do? Touch as little as possible, Ouch that's hot...If I may offer an idea: If you get some extra chopsticks in your takeout, it only takes a minute to make a set of shop tweezers for handling smalls, hots, and no-touches.
