How to Solo HH Fatalis - Matchup, Skills, Build, Openings, etc | MHW Iceborne

Uploading these in a different order than I recorded, so I might mention runs I haven't uploaded yet. Sorry about that! Also I'm bad at HH, sorry ;-;
This is a commentated matchup guide that explains how I go about solo ing fatalis. I use the fatalis weapon and set, but HH is fairly skill agnostic, so just use whatever you want with a decent atk up HH and you'll be able to replicate this.

Spreadsheet info:
I have a spreadsheet which collects all sorts of data on Monster Hunter World Iceborne that people ask about a lot - things like the materials needed to upgrade the best charms (e.g. handicraft, expert etc), a list of all the guiding land monster drops and gathering nodes (plus it's searchable), what materials you need for every possible augment (attack, affinity, defence, health, slot, element/status) in the game, etc:

It also includes things like a list of ALL the 4 slot decorations (including even the rare 12 ones which ONLY drop from sealed feystones) so you know the best deco's to aim for when farming. It even has detailed images for the guiding land gathering nodes (the one's that drop materials like the guiding dragonbones/crystals etc) which you need for custom weapon upgrades/augments!
My list of guiding land drops can be sorted either by drop type (so it finds the monster to fight for a particular part) or you can use it to just find the parts belonging to any monster (no more pulling your hair out over how to get those Enchanting Finehide/Trancehide for your health augments!). This goes up to and includes the tempered elders (speaking of which, check out my 5 slot tempered investigation farming macro if you haven't already!)
It also has a Safi'Jiiva relic checklist to easily monitor which awakened weapons you're missing from the new siege!

I have to say your positioning is remarkable, most of the time I'm playing very safe because I'm not confident enough to not get punished even with evade window 5, but that means I lose a lot of openings and opportunities for damage. my runs tend to be cartless but I take very long to beat him

Good job, dude! HH is mah shite! Being a regular player/main of the less loved weapons (HH main, Lance, SnS & Spread HBG) I find my times climb when I solo because I’m used playing with my partner and other than HBG, my typical builds have not the mightiest DPS. When I spec for all damage my survival becomes much less certain.

I'm constantly getting carted by some attack he's doing off-screen, while I have to be at his belly to deal some damage. How do I counter that? And this is only the cutscene. I have no clue how I'd kill him in 30 minutes (have all hunting horns and all relevant armor except gold Rath (because why would surspikes drop). What would be a good gear setup without Fatalis gear? I mean: I'm here because I have a hard time killing him. I don't have any Fatalis gear. ^^

Great vid! I've been trying to do this with 2p branchy and 3p teostra and it's been rough, going to try to swap around to get some EW so I can do more damage on the cone attacks and the explosion. It's just too close without any EW.

Possibly outdated advice but I finally soloed Fatalis after switching teobrachy for goldianbrachy, for agi7 db5 and slotted in ew4.

@@ThyVile I eventually did that for my first few kills, but I felt that having EW and learning to not get hit at all was better for my overall learning of the fight. At least the fine tuning. I could get by with DB5, but I was getting lazy and was OK with getting hit and it became a crutch. Definitely really good for starting fights you don't know

You ain't gonna get a free pass just because you got the Fatalis set. You're still gonna suffer if your dps is shite even with a Fatalis weapon and armor.

Fatalis with fatalis gear is tolerable at best. Fatalis with anything else is torture. So no should do it if they don't have to

Wow, somehow on a video this old, you're lucky enough to get a quick-ish reply. The (4) piece set bonus for fatalis armor is basically HP&Stamina +100 and True Razor Sharp/Spare Shot. These let you eat for whatever skills without worrying about health or stamina and also mean you dont need health boost or stamina cap up to reach 200 stamina, but they are capped at 200 iirc. (2) pieces is every skill secret, meaning you can have things like agitator or max might secret without needing to bother making a mixed set specifically for getting them.
