I know how she got it. She simplified 32/80 and turned it into 4/10. To simplify a fraction, you divide both the numerator and denominator by the same number. So, you can divide 32 by 8 and it's equal to 4, and then divide 80 by 8 and that's equal to 10, and that's how she got 4/10. She probably didn't explain how she got 4/10 because the video is too short and she probably didn't have time to explain it, but I hope this helps

It's just one way to get to the answer. basically the person just did it long way for formula x=32/80 equal to 40 percent. the person went one step more by making the fraction smaller. not to difficult to comprehend but still which ever is easier for the person to find the answer then just go with it.

I paused this video, did it the way he did and I got the right answer in no time. No need for x and all that. He makes it so much simpler. There’s a lot of comments saying there’s a simple way to do it such as 32/80 * 100. Which is true and it does work. They aren’t however explaining why this works and they’re missing the important details about it. Shortcuts like this aren’t good practice since you’re missing a lot of important work, unfortunately teachers on here tend to show you the right way to do it but fall flat on explaining. An important thing about this video is you need to know what a variable or x is when it comes to math. A variable x is an input. For example we know that 40% of 80 is 32. Why? Plug it in for x. 80(0.4) = 32 -> 32=32. When you’re solving for x, you’re essentially figuring out what the input value would be in order to equal your number. 80(?) = 32 -> (?) =32/80 -> (0.4) = 32/80. This is how they got the first part of their simplified version, 32 divided by 80. 80x = 32 -> x = 32/80. In order to fully understand this, let’s say we want to find out how 2 = 1 for some reason. Well we know that’s not true, but how can make an equation true? Let’s add an input variable and call it x. 2x = 1. This is the same as saying 2 * x = 1. In algebra we need to isolate the variable to solve. So, we need to divide both sides of the equation to get x by itself. 2x/2 = 1/2 -> x = 1/2. Now let’s verify if we did it right. Substitute the answer for x. 2(1/2) = 1 -> 1 = 1 ✅ Here’s a fun thought experiment. If I had a 7 mm string, how many times larger would it have to be in order for me to have a 32mm string? Build your own equation and don’t do it in your head, understand how x works. Might be a bit confusing, but the more you learn the more you realize it’s a lot more simple than you’d think. I was horrendous at math, I mean absolutely terrible at it. Failed out and got my GED. Now I’m a second year CS student doing calc 2. It may seem like they’re doing it the “hard way” but they’re doing it for a reason! Oversimplified versions that only show the end result such as 32/80*100 does not teach you math, it tells you how to memorize and never do math of your own. Understand how to derive these equations and where it comes from, if you do, math will feel very natural!

Both numbers have 8 as a factor or to state it another way both are divisible by 8. 8 goes into 32 four times and 8 goes into 80 ten times, therefore 32/80 becomes 4/10 or .4 which is 40%. Note that you could have reduced it further to 2/5 but since we tend to think in multiples of 10 no further advantage is gained by doing so and 4/10 is easier to convert to decimals and percentage than 2/5 for most people.

I mean we consider 0 as min and hundred as max value in almost all cases(just look at your battery percentage of your phones or laptop as example). Now consider the answer in this question ie: 4/10 which equals to 0.4 . The reason we multiply this value with hundred is bcz, we need the percentage value to be in between 0 and 100. So if you want the percentage value to be in between 0 and 1 , you need not multiply 0.4 with anything bcz 0.4 itself is the answer as 0.4 lies in between 0 and 1. Simple You take 32 multiply by 100% divided by 80 That the Zero in 80 will council one zero on 100 you then take now 32 divided by 8 will give you 4 you then now take 4 multiply by 10 that will give you 40%

The % sign is just a shorthand notation for division by 100. So the answer is 40 and _not_ 40% which is 100 times smaller than the actual value.

I did 80x and set it equal to 32. After that it’s a simple algebra step. Think about it this way for those who may not get it, 80 × (?) = 32. If you substitute 0.4 (or 40%) for X so 80(0.4) = 32 you’ll get the equation to be equal with 32=32. Essentially your unknown is how to equal 80% to 32%. Therefore you put your variable on 80 and solve for that variable x to get the answer. 80x = 32 x = 32/80 or 0.4
