That's a great video man, I got it a few months ago and been messing around almost intuitively between BC's info and the manual, this was very helpful to figure it out better, it's a really nice drum synth. I'm only having one issue and that's with MIDI in for some reason, doesn't receive the clock or anything else really... set the BPM to zero and the Rx set to all, but it doesn't seem to take anything in, do you have any idea what it could be? On the other hand the midi out works perfectly fine

Thanks. Are you using USB or 5-pin MIDI? I don't know if I ever used the USB but have used 5-PIN OK. I'll try to think if there's any other tricks for receiving clock.

@@AllThatsGone I was trying with the 5pin MIDI from the keystep, but now I just decided to give it a try with the USB from my laptop and it works great that way... Might just need to open it up and see if the MIDI in is making contact with something or if there's some bad soldering

Can you midi control all 6 voices simultaneously, so I can sequence with the keystep pro externally?
@AllThatsGone2 жыл бұрын
The LXR in the video is running the BC firmware. Part of what you get with the BC firmware is enhanced MIDI support. The MIDI chart is here - brendanclarke.com/files/LXR/lxr-midi-assign.txt One tip - if you're sending MIDI CC, send only CC values that exist. Meaning- say there are seven possible wave forms and you send CC to select them. Send only 0-6 as a CC value. If you send 7 or higher it will lock up. Something to be aware of.

I used TouchOSC on an ipad a lot to edit the LXR. This way you can configure TouchOSC to only send values in the possible range (0-6 in my example). A knob on a controller like KeyStep will send all 0-127. For filter or volume and the rest of the full range values, this isn't an inssue.

See if the bottom of the plastic switch covers can be filed down to allow them to clear a little better. There's mention of it in the video - I used sandpaper. Sometimes the switches on the board aren't centered perfectly under the opening in the case. It's just a little piece of gum holding the cap onto the switch.
@difflocktwo3 жыл бұрын
@@AllThatsGone Ok, I will consider sanding the caps and checking alignment.

Is it worth it? how would you rate it?
@AllThatsGone2 жыл бұрын
Worth is relative. It packs a punch. Sounds good. BC firmware is great. Sequencer has a ton of features. Also the performance feature with kit blend and bitcrush is unique and fun and useful. I’d say if there’s a weak point it’s the buttons. Sometimes you have to press them a few times and they don’t have the great feel you get from say an elektron. Other weak point is since you have voice edit mode, sequencer mode, perf mode, etc, the buttons at the bottom shane what they do so it’s possible to make a mistake if you’re not paying attention to what mode you’re in.

how does this compare to the lxr02?
@AllThatsGone2 жыл бұрын
I don’t know. Mine has bc firmware and I image 02 has factory firmware. The volume faders on 02 have to be a huge improvement and I’d imagine the buttons/switches are better.

Thanks for asking! It's been a number of years so I've got more used to it and it hasn't got worse as far as I can tell. I'm still super cautious and definitely don't want it to happen again.

Is it just 1 bar?thanx for vid.
@AllThatsGone3 жыл бұрын
1 bar but there are substeps and you can slow down individual tracks so that you can fit more bars on a single track and use the substeps to fill in the gaps.
@OrionGarcia3 жыл бұрын
@@AllThatsGone in performance mode if you press and hold shift and press a pattern, you can tell patterns how many time to play and what to do when its done playing (ie go to next pattern). Technically you can have 1016 bars. I set up my lxr to not repeat the 16 step bar but to play the next pattern instead, so each pattern becomes a bar.
