I am a middle school special education teacher, and I love using Magic to teach academic, social, and behavioral skills. I also let kiddos make and then keep decks if they meet their academic goals. I donate commons & uncommons & even some bulk rares to my LGS. They have some programs set up in the area where people have groups to teach people magic & after-school programs & stuff like that. Kind of a cool way to unload the clutter

Did you know that a 5k box will hold over 10k of Magic cards? 5k count is for sleeved baseball cards, but Magic cards are thinner than baseball cards.

No reason to keep too many of any individual card. I sort by standard/non-stabdard, then color and name. Over, say, 4-6 I pass on to the kids or bulk sell.

I think just getting a playset of common and uncommon cards for every release and then buying the rares if you need them is probably the way to go.

I made my own box. Big baby, out of plywood, 5mm thick, holding 3k of cards. All stained deep brown with the Magic the Gathering writing burned out in wood. Then varnished, hinged with golden hinges and tiny nails all around edges. Inside, lined with 5 colors felt, all my colors are lying on a side, divided by land, creatures, spells, etc separately. Ready to flip and make a deck. It weights about 10kg so has its sacred place on my coffee table

I grew up with playing Yugioh with my Dad. We had a house in our room the same way with all the same boxes for back storage. By far the best time and best memories of my life. Please sir, enjoy them while you can. Maybe put away special cards here and there to give back to your son YEARS down the road.

I've got about 20 5k boxes now and i can tell you in the begging i was sorting by set, rarity and color after one box it just became set and rarity. Even with one less variable it makes it a breeze when i want to find a card from specific set

I've been sorting by rarity, color and putting duplicates all together before I store them, from scratch one if those white boxes takes me 3-4 hours but since I've been doing it from the get go as to avoid the leaning tower of madness.

Lmao I tend to think I have way too many cards, but then I see Joey's collection and I realize I'm just a noob who has only been collecting for maybe three years tops. I have one of the exact same boxes he used in this video, but my entire collection only takes up half of the entire thing. Hot damn I can't imagine having as many as Joey has. I collect Yugioh. The way I store it is by set. I’ll have a binder dedicated to a set and collect 1 of every card in that set up to secret rare. In the binder I organize by rarity, then by card set #. In the back of the binder I put all the expensive commons/short prints. Typically 1-2 per set + extra super rares/ultras that aren’t worth selling. I then put all the bulk commons into a box similar to yours (albeit smaller), and organize 1 set/box. In Yugioh you can play 3 of the same card in a deck, so I organize 3 commons of the same card per sleeve (penny sleeve) and I organize by type (earth, fire, etc) any card that doesn’t have 3 remaining of same card I put all of the same type into a bigger penny sleeve and organize them at the back of the row so if I do get more and complete a play set I can easily find it. I also use tabs.

I just bought my last 660 box got my whole bulk section collection in penny sleeves. I don't even have colors put together. I was just tired on always damaging the edges of all my cards everytime I take them out. I was keeping them in beer boxes.

Joey, you should make a small website were people request some cards to you and if you have them in your collection you can send them out. It's an alternative if you can't sell all those bulk rares.

It is a GIANT pain, but if you go color, then alphabetically, (and we do a case-ish per set) it makes things easy to find. If I need Duress I don't have to go grab 5 different boxes or folders, I check one spot black, under Du and there they are. If you think about it, once you get to maintaining. There are only so many different cards per set which makes that really easy to maintain.

i bought a 6 drawer dresser, and built dividers with 1x3 lumber and have them alphabatized by color with a color in each drawer. still working on it but once i have it all organized it will make life so much easier for figuring out what cards i have when it comes to building new decks.

Between my brothers and i we have over 200 decks, so i started making deck boxes out out two cards on the front and back and folded around the sides two more cards with alil glue and tape it got rid of alot of bulk and organized our decks

File mine by set type. Gene type (iinstant.sorcery.ect) alphabetized in each gene type...easier referencing back for then. If you know the set it's from and type instant sorcery artifact enchantment creature and name of card you can just go in a box and pull it in seconds...on copy or multiple...little bit of prep work but no confusion on whether I have one or not and easy

I sort by set and then by the numbers on the lower end of the card. I find every card i need in no time! Cards that are built into Decks is a different beast... sometimes i cand find them at all. 😅
