This was really helpful, thank you. I self-study grammar a lot, as I self study Korean full stop, but hadn't come across this nasalisation rule. This makes a lot of sense now, since I've often wondered why words often sound different to how they're written when I listen to Korean. Also, why some words seem to blend much more quickly, as explained now in your rule 1 (연음). So this will really help my listening skills. 선생님, 감사합니다.

No way, this might be the reason why I feel like my listening skills are weak in Korean. The nasal rule blew my mind, helpful information l. Thank you 선생님

@@alphakoreanclass I have one more doubt!! It's like this, whenever a 는 or 은 or just ㄴ appears and the next word starts with a ㅂ, ㄷ, ㄱ the sound I hear is similar to the ones they make when placed between vowels (b, d and g respectively), so my doubt is, do they sound the way I hear them or they are normal and It's just that my ears aren't used to their sound? (If it helps you, my 1st language is portuguese (brazilian's one)

@@ARN084 Hi Alisson! As a Korean language expert, I'd like to clarify the pronunciation of the Korean words you mentioned. When the base of a syllable ends in ㄴ, the pronunciation of ㄱ, ㄷ, and ㅂ in the following syllable does not change, as you can see in words like '은근, 은둔, 은빛'. I've read your comments carefully and noticed that you've heard the sounds of ㄱ,ㄷ, and ㅂ as g, d, and b, respectively. You've actually heard these sounds correctly. You don't need to worry about your listening skills, as it seems you're on the right track. Keep up the great work! 😊

선생님, thank you for all the help! At what level do you think someone should start working on their pronunciation?
@alphakoreanclass3 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. Most learners do not think of studying pronunciation separately after learning Hangul at the beginner level. So They're worried because their listening and speaking skills don't improve as much as their expectation. I think when studying pronunciation as an upper Beginner, it is good to master the degree of pronunciation rules I mentioned in this video. And if you have an intermediate level of reading and writing skills, but if you think your listening and speaking skills are beginners, you need to study pronunciation once seriously.
