acctually your mix is just adding more plugins. and my biggest question is why are you compressing after the eq? that is just removing eq adjustments. as well as deessing

Adding plugins is how you mix in-the-box. Compressing and de-essing after EQ does not "remove" eq adjustments. I may make a video on the difference between EQing before and after compression so be sure to stick around for that!

It's the reverse. EQ after compression can remove the compression effect. Compressing after EQ preservess the EQ effect.

10db boost on the highs is ill, and they never would do a boost like that max +5db and that is much already

With they I mean his mixing engineers , and it sounds brighter for sure on yours , that’s why it sticks out this much too , for my taste i would not go higher than 5db max but its your taste so just do you

I aint hatin tho I see you don't saturate your master and be heavy reliant on more plugins in the vocal chain than less. Less is better, more is more issues in the mixing and the mastering world

the mix sucks so bad, did you even use autotune? (ok you did, but you used 40 retune speed, you should've used 14, no wonder it sounded kinda funny in your mix), sounds over compressed in a way that's lifeless, and lacks low mid. it's sad how every mix tutorial sucks, it's like everyone has a deaf ear and can't tell that how their mixes suck, so they keep uploading these tutorials, that sound so much worse than the original song + the raw vocals were already processed through hardware compression eq preamp etc, maybe even plugins to shape the tone of the vocal but maybe not

I just mixed the song exactly how the original was, I didn't do the original mix; I was just copying it 1:1.
