Well, I sub’d even though you have so many videos in English. I am studying Spanish. Nevertheless, your English is really great and I like seeing you laughing and smiling while you speak. You look Hispanic so when you are with Spanish speakers, they might expect you to speak like a native or like they do. That can be intimidating I would think. However, you do so well with English that I suppose your Spanish is great too. Anyway, I will check out some of those books, I already have the apps, and I will see you in some of your KZbin videos! As we say in the USA: Don’t be a stranger! (Meaning, make many more videos so we all can enjoy you and your smile and your great personality ❤

Hi Sofiya. I like Russia and China very much & have studied Mandarin & Russian a lot. Mostly because of Janeth Valenzuela, I am studying Spanish now. It is possible to gain a tourist level of Mandarin with Pinyin, but the written characters & tonal requirements for pronunciation make learning Chinese a very high cost effort in terms of returns for effort expended. I have a friend in Krasnodar who also learned English as a second language. Your proficiency in English demands my upmost respect. A helpful tip: many books I might buy can be loaned from the public library. I am waiting for the Madrigal book now from a local library ( I placed a "hold") and am waiting for a purchased at Ebay dictionary after have been using a library copy of the sane book for that last week or so.

I'm going to check out the "Deli" test. Thanks for the advice. I've studied Spanish for years but have not been able to carry on a conversation yet. Just phrases and a few short sentences. I'm still hopeful. I'm teaching myself Turkish now and am loving the language. It makes so much sense to me.

In 2013 I did the Dele Test with my classmates. None of us passed, except a native latin guy although our Spanish was really good and we studied hard for several months everyday. I don’t know how it is now 10 years later but I just wanna share my experiences, that Dele is extremely hard.

Marketing hooks like 'easy Spanish overnight' or "Spanish in your sleep' appeal to me more (just joking) You didn't really dig into listening activities. Any podcasts, series, youtubers? When I was familiarizing myself with Italian I came across Oneworlditaliano. I assume they have laid out all the grammar plus cultural insights etc. Although they clearly market their language classes, the amount of quality stuff posted is incredible. Lucrezia is another vlogger I enjoy watching (she's a teacher). And of course Italian Fairy Tales - cartoons with stunning graphics and subtitles in English. I'm personally tired of these 'achiever' stories where people learn in a restricted time. Most people don't become fluent in 5 months, and become deflated when it takes then 2 or more years. Just stop it.
@SofiyaLevina Жыл бұрын
I understand that totally :) it definitely takes 1-2 years to master the language to the C1 level. However, with the Spanish language, you can achieve a decent level in 5-6 months if you study every single day. Plus, it’s important to consider my background and that I speak Russian and English which helps a lot concerning grammar.

Glad you have had success in studying Spanish. Your video title is misleading though and in the video you said you are at level B1 which is not close to being fluent. I applaud you for your efforts but videos saying people can reach a level of a fluent speaker in 3- 6 months is not accurate. I think this can have a negative effect on people as when they reach the 3-6 month mark and are not anywhere close to fluency they get frustrated and give up and/or question whether something is wrong with them because, hey, other people seem to be doing it all the time and why can't I. Learning a foreign language to "fluency" (ie., real fluency) takes a lot of work and time, measured in years, not months. If you want to be able to "get by" or get your point across in another language, then perhaps "months" is doable.
@SofiyaLevina3 жыл бұрын
I’m sure everyone realizes that it takes years to reach a high level. And there is no point to stress it. However, 6 months is enough to reach a good level of understanding and speaking.
