In this free lesson I'll give you the most useful method of playing an interesting accompaniment using inversions and simple bass lines.
The method demonstrates accompaniment to two different songs:
Django Reinhardt Waltz: Montagne Sainte Genevieve (Django's Waltz) and
bei mir bist du schoen
I guarantee it will change the way you think about
accompaniment and chords.
Enjoy!

I love the way you teach! The fact of choosing only one inversion for each chord, and only 3 chords, instead of trying to show all possible inversions and messing up our minds, that is knowing how to teach, thank you so much

Excellent work as always. Perhaps there is a Part Two in the future to include chord subs - as in your example of Dmin7/D to Dmin/F, you insert A7/E bass, and start a diatonic bass walk up (D, E, F..).

Thanks Jacob! I am enjoying your lessons. As I am new to Gypsy jazz, my question is this: when moving from for example an E-7 to an A7 chord, might you insert sometimes a Bb7 or Bb13 on the fourth beat as you move to A7? I know this is done in other styles but not sure if this fits with Gypsy Jazz. Thanks!
